Underage drinking is not illegal. Possession of alcohol underage is illegal. Most states consider having alcohol in your blood/stomach possession.

They won't go to juvey/jail. It'll be a fine, community service, and maybe probation if it's a dick judge.

Cliffs notes: His friends got trashed and one of em got ill from too much drink. His friends all got into trouble but he didn't because he went to work instead.

Edit: Realized that's too long a cliff note.

His friends got in trouble, he went to work and didn't.

Hmm still too long.

His friends in trouble for drinking, him not.

Hmm still too long.

Friends drunk trouble, him not.

Idiots. Is it really worth the jail time (Or juvi) just to get sick from alcohol poisening?

I'm just wondering here... Is it illegal for someone who is underage to drink? Was a crime actually committed?

You're an idiot, aren't you? Do you understand the term "underage"? Some people........

Thanks for the unwarranted personal attack, asshat.

The question was one of particulars, as mugsywwiii pointed out. It's illegal to sell alcohol to someone who is underage, but is it actually illegal for someone who is underage to consume it (i.e. suppose parents give alcohol to minors at some family function). If these kids had possession of an existing stash of alcohol, is it illegal for them to consume it? If I am, say, 18, and I find a bottle of beer in the fridge, is it illegal for me to drink it? I somehow don't think so, but that's why I ask the question.

You're welcome :) And it actually is illegal for anyone underage to drink without parental consent, whoever says otherwise is also an idiot.

Your friends are morons.
How the fvck did he manage to get a BAL of 2.6? Beer bonging a half gallon?
edit:
Ok, after reading over some BAL stuff, you have to mean .26, one would be very very dead before they could break 1.0

Actually I think this story is plenty of proof that we do need a drinking age. Some people just can't drink smart, and it gets worse the younger you are.

And I agree with the poster who said that they drank like idiots and got what they deserved. Maybe this will teach them how not to drink like a bunch of high school kids with too much alcohol and time on their hands...wait a second...

Didn't really understand exactly what's going to happend with your friends, but seems to be hard penaltys for getting drunk. Here the police just drive you home if you're to drunk and underage (of course you will be send to hospital if necessery). Lucky for you anyways.. and gl to your friend at hospital.

Btw. Why is it called Cliff notes?
