Last night I bought a tub of protein powder and this morning realized that by mistake I'd bought a soy based one. Since i didn't have the receipt I thought "oh well" and used some in my morning shake. It tasted pretty gross (vanilla flavor but nothing in the world can cover up the filthy flavour of soy apparently), but I sucked it down anyway.

When I was nearly done I felt a bit quesy and not two minutes later my breakfast was being flushed. Now I've had some gross stuff before; milk with raw egg shakes, the old school protein from 8 years ago that used to be literally impossible to mix - everything. But this takes the cake. God what a foul concoction. It reminded me of my experience with a tofu dog. Sick. What's wrong with vegetarians?

Anyway mrs. skoorb found the receipt in the garbage can soaked in tuna juice so now it's drying and I think I can return it :)

Why did I write this? Because I'm bored.

Soy protein for a powder has GOT to be the worst thing on the planet. I was going to Italy once for a six month "stay" and grabbed two 10 pound jugs of soy to take with me. Didn't try it out before hand like a knob. Get there, workout, shower, mix a shake... and gag so violently that I spew it all over the kitchen. Right then and there I threw away both jugs. Never got soy again.

Nasty.

Skoorb - GNC lets you exchange stuff with or without a receipt. I don't think those GNC people want some nasty smelling receipt :D

dude, chinese style soy drink taste much much better than that.

i was in California, and i saw soy milk, I thought to myself... great, a cheaper alternative version I can get instead of from the expensive asian grocery store.

big mistake.... i can see why people hate soy products... it was quite disgusting.

Yeah I like their liberal return policy.

I haven't had to return any multi-vitamins yet but I have returned other stuff without any problems.

They are liberal on their return policy - they know better than anyone that some of those powders just taste like absolute @$$ (I had a friend who worked there - they try the stuff people bring back that's opened so they can either recommend/not recommend it if someone asks about it)

Rule #1: GNC is suck. They sell a lot of junk at prices only the most desperate supplement seeker would pay.

Check out any of a host of online nutrition stores, and get exactly what you want -- for a fraction of what GNC would charge. I recommend netrition.com.

You're right on the pricing, but it's like why do any B&M stores still exist (like Best Buy, CompUSA, Staples, etc etc) if you can order everything online for a lot cheaper? It's more convenient - you can go down to any corner and get your supplements instead of having to wait a week to get your crap, by then which will have been sitting in some hot UPS trailer growing all sorts of nasty crap.

My god, for some reason this thread had me cracking up laughing!

Poor Skoorbie. My heart went out to him wrenching his guts up this morning. Our baby cat was sitting outside the bathroom door just looking at me, then looking back at the door, then me, with the most pathetic look in her eyes.

Anyhow, Skoorb brought it back no prob with the stinking receipt for giggles. :)
