Ok, i see the chinese food title.

How about Thai Food? I've been hooked on this mussaman stuff lately. Also some good pa nangs. Anybody got a really good mussaman recipe?

😉

I'll be spending a couple of weeks in Bangkok in January, so I'll be sure and let you know how the food is. Can you recommend something?

They use lots of curries. I like the red one best so far. Noodles, soups, etc. I'm no expert, and can't even pronounce half of the names. Most thai food here in the US has been americanized (go figure). Get a thai food book from your local library and start visiting local thai restaruants to get an idea of what you know you will like, and what you dont.

<< I like the papaya salad. 🙂 >>

happens to be my wifes favorite dish. She can eat a ton of it :Q

can't wait to headof to thailand again.

<< Tom yam!!

D24, you cant leave without trying one~
>>

I left without eating one in Malaysia. 😀 Can't stand the smell and taste of it.

Papaya salad is awsome, but all the places here make it way too spicy. One or two bites and my mouth is on fire. Tom Yum Gong is good too if you can take the heat.

I also like the Pork with Green Beans, Pad Prik Khing or something like that. I don't know if that's real Thai food though.........I honestly don't know much about Thai food except for the mostly Americanized places I go to. 🙂

Nope, haven't tried there either.

I'm a pussy when it comes to REALLY HOT spicy food. All I taste is the HEAT rather than the flavor of the food. I don't mind a little hot for that added kick when appropriate (a nice hot burrito for instance).

<< j0lly - Thanks, any others? >>

Thai Peacock is also good.

I'm going to Thailand in December and I can't wait to try authentic Thai food.

I've actually ate at Thai Peacock a few times thanks to a Wilamette Week article on them. Always order Yellow Curry from them, yummy.

pad thai, all the types of noodles are delicious, love the curry as well, thai food is my favorite type of food

If you travel outside of Bangkok on any of the countryside roads, be wary of thieves and strange individuals trying to sell you spider sticks. They take these HUGE spiders (tarantulas?) and deep-fry 'em in oil--makes a sweet & sticky dish!

However, some weirdos are known to hand tourists live spiders skewered on sticks to see what their reaction is. No one is supposed to eat them live, but some tourists are like "well, when in Rome..."
