Not sure if this helps or not, but here's the results from my setup. I have the TH7-II Raid mobo also with 2 x 40gb IBM 120gxp's in RAID 0. Here are my results from the HD Tach 2.61 benchmark
For a single drive - max 30880.0 kps, min 15903.0 kps, avg 28447.5 kps
For the 2 drives in RAID 0 on the ata/100 controller - max 72736.0 kps, 14588.0 kps, avg 46309.9 kps
So seeing as how I came no where close to the theoretical ata100 limit, I would think that it wouldn't matter which controller you use. I have seen other tests tho, where if you have 3 or 4 drives in RAID0, you get closer and closer to the theoretical limit of the controller. But if you're only going to be using 2 drives, then I would say save your money. Hope this helps
