TH7-II RAID RAID question

Hello fellow forum users,

After browsing the forums for quite sometime now, I made my decision to purchase a 1.6 northwood CPU with an ABIT TH7-II RAID mobo. I have already contacted Abit and they are sending me 2 bios chips (I am building 2 identical systems). Reading this forum, I found almost all the information I wanted about this mobo. My question to you TH7-II RAID owners out there is: Can I set up RAID or at least use the RAID connectors so that I can place one IDE device on each channel? I have 2 HDDs, a DVD Rom and a CD burner and I want to put only one device on each channel. I hear it helps with performance, nothing siginificant (but hey if you have it why not use it). I am wondering if this is possible, I hear it being done with other RAID boards. If you know how to do this (if it can be done at all) could you please respond to this thread and let me know how to set it up with this motherboard. This is the first system I am building myself. It's a little ambitious with RAID and everything, but I think I am capable of putting these 2 systems together. I hope as I learn more that I will be a positive contributor to this forum as are many of you now.

Thanks in advance,

Gedron

Gedron, I'm sorry I can't answer your question. Actually I'm looking hard at the TH7II-RAID too, and have a few questions for you... :)

Do you mean that Abit is sending you replacement BIOS chips with version 38? Have you already received the boards, and did they have version 37 when you received them? What kind of DRCGs do they have, and what on-board sound? And where did you order them from?

Thanks!

PowerEngineer,

I haven't purchased the mobo as yet. I heard that there was a bios problem, so I went ahead and contacted ABIT and they are sending me the revision 38 bios chips. I was planning on buying the mobo from a local retailer (San Diego, California). I haven't seen anyone online or locally selling the TH7-II RAID advertised with the 'good' DRCG's, unlike some online vendors advertising the ASUS P4T-E with 'ICS' chips. As for your other questions, I really do not know since I haven't actually purchased the mobo as yet. By the sound of your reply, I would assume that there is a difference in DRCG's and onboard sound for this board. As far as onboard sound goes, I was going to use my SB Audigy.

I apologize for the lack of information,

Gedron

gedron, I think you can put one device on each channel with the Highpoint chip that's on that board. I have one, but am waiting for memory. I plan to put three devices (one on each channel) on. I'll post here on how it works out.
