he bashes it lightly. he also got rid of his GT, because piece of crap kept breaking down. he bashes everything, no vehicle is ever perfect to him. he called the RX-8 the best car he'd driven all year, but took it back and said it was "skittish" in the wet.

also, i do agree with Clarkson's view of american cars. most of them are crap. there's a few good, but most of them are just junk.

The GT kept breaking down because of an aftermarket alarm and I am pretty sure he still has it. He has said he was going to get rid of it and I think even did return it once but took it back.

oh from that latest clarkson video? thats like his worst video ever😛 and i've seen basically all of them. i mean his american bashing is usually funny, but this time it was just lazy and stupid.

i'd say, considering he didn't even use a Mustang GT

I can't believe you people are getting mad over Top Gear. What's next, outrage over the fact that Jon Stewart doesn't report the REAL news?! Stop getting your panties in a bunch - they do this all the time - he lampooned the Prius, made fun of the new S class for crashing (without mentioning that someone forgot to setup the radar system) etc etc.

And he doesn't so much make fun of Americans, as he just expresses a the most commonly held view outside the US. 😉 Though I could never figure out why Americans like a US-bashing francophile like him...

Because Clarkson hates absoulutely everything associated with America and goes out of his way to make it look as bad as it can.

Yep, the show is primarily about assuming we're all hillbilly bush lovers and making fun of us. Cars are just filler for in between the anti-US jokes. Hence the Europe-is-a-utopia college kiddie crowd can't get enough of the show

Delivery date:03/20/2006. First in Hertz service 3/22/2006.

Vehicle is a 2006 Red Mustang Convertible V6. Last oil change at 20708 miles, with change due at 25708.

Hertz vehicle rented out of LAX. Though this particular vehicle has been checked into NV, NM, and surrounding states.

It was bought back by Ford on 11/20 (trans date 11/21) and deactivated from the Hertz system with approx 20829 miles.

I am not at liberty to reveal anymore regarding the specific rental. I don't believe Top Gear had any clearance or permission to test this vehicle in this manner and doing so may have violated the rental agreement. However, I don't feel there is any need to escalate the issue at this time. I just hope next time, in the interest of journalistic integrity, he reports the truth, rather than pull it from his posterior.

lmao!! great work!!!

dude, escalate it, stick it to that biased brit!

Escalate it to what? 😕

look closer.. thats a BASE model V6 mustang Vert. single exhaust... no GT front end or rear.. or GT emblems for that matter..

that means closer to 200 base hp... smaller tires and brakes.. and not as stiff for handleing..

try that with a GT or a Cobra or any other V8 stang variant...
Id expect a source like TG to know the difference between the models.

if I were Ford I'd Sue them.

I don't have an issue with his testing, the full review of the Mustang was fine, they took the expected pot-shot at the live rear axle, but also admitted that in testing it didn't drive like it had a live axle.

I wouldn't have had an issue if he'd used a real GT.

But to intentionally misrepresent the V6 model as a GT is really quite bad. He might as well call this a Boxster S.

That would explain why he loves the viper and has a gt50, right?

Idiot.

actually he returned his Ford GT... said it was a nightmare... and has been anti Ford ever since..

this little stunt is nothing but pure anti Ford propaganda... if they used the car they were talking about instead of trying to ruin mustang sales by misrepresenting a V6 stang as a 300hp GT.. things would be alot different..

using a standard package V6 Vert is totally sabotaging the entire test...
if they had used a Hardtop GT with a 5 speed that horse would be left behind..

I have to admit, Clarkson and TG can get annoying when they misrepresent things...which they often do. A lot of their "segments" are obviously rigged. In the long run though...I don't watch the show for serious automotive testing, I watch it because it is enjoyable. The only thing I take somewhat seriously on the show is the numbers that Stig runs around their test track...but even that is very questionable as they make no attempt to test under similar conditions. Still, it gives a reasobable reference on performance between the different cars.

I doubt it. The test was on a 1/4 mile oval that had sand blown all over it. Poor traction for the car and essentially just one long low-speed corner without any real straights. Using the V6 was just extra ensurance for Clarkson that the rigging was complete.

its not top gear, he makes car videos on the side and has done it for over a decade. sure things are rigged, but his video this year took it a step too far. wasn't clever or entertaining, just stupid. it was like he was sleepwalking through that video. clarkson does many other documentary/side projects other than top gear. some of them pretty good, like the motorworld series, Meet the Neighbors and top inventions..
