Not insisting on Dell specifically, I'm just used to their monitors by now. I'm insisting on the resolution, the minimum size, and the panel quality though.
 
IPS like quality,144hz and 1440p while being Gsync supported?Did nearly every monitor freak just have a orgasm?I just mentioned this in another thread,but got mixed up with the TN based Swift lol.

Yeah, pretty exciting. I'm guessing $1000-$1200, though hopefully more the former.

ROLF! I had just finished downloading and watching "The Interview" (a very annoying and terrible comedy and would sooner view an old Peter Sellers flic) with a beer or two before commenting on this thread.

I apologize to South Korea and excuse my dyslexia as I'm above average when it comes to Geography ;o)

My QNIX running at 120 hz has far, far more motion blur than my Swift does at just 60 hz. There's more to motion clarity than just refresh rate - panel tech matters. However if you don't care about low motion blur and just want IPS viewing angles with g-sync, then awesomesauce.
 
The article does mention this is unseen territory for IPS. I think it's a mistake an it's just going to be the Swift's TN panel. But if it's somehow an IPS version of the Swift with similar low motion blur, I will buy 3 of them and go for 1440p 144Hz Surround. It should take a few GPU generations to be able to push that. 😛

Quoted for truth. The smoothness of running a low blur 120hz monitor at 120hz is truly something that must be experienced to appreciate.
 
I'm not about to spend $1000 for either a TN or IPS 144Hz Free Sync Display when a $300 27" 19:6 South Korean QINX 2510 2560x1440 Samsung IPS Div-D Display running at 120 Hz will do it.
 
My suggestion is to buy the $300 QNIX 2510 Dvi-D Matte and wait until Free-Sync TN and IPS panels come into their own.

You will not be disappointed.

Even at 60Hz'Hz's, she's one of the fastest displays I've ever encountered and I'm running 290X's in CF.

Mmm the acer release says its displayport only. But that says DVI/HDMI. Makes sense, not many people have display ports.

Acer is about to take gaming monitors to the next level. After Eizo revolutionized the gaming market with a 120 Hz VA monitor, Acer is about to release XB270HU that combines 144 Hz with an IPS panel. It also supports G-Sync.

There was a lot of initial confusing over this announcement since Acer said something else in November, but Acer has now confirmed the good news to FlatpanelsHD. The 27-inch XB270HU will be a beast with its 2560x1440 pixels, 144 Hz, IPS panel, and G-Sync (and ULMB) support.

144 Hz is not necessarily a huge jump over 120 Hz, but it is a very significant upgrade over 60 Hz, which all other IPS monitors use today. IPS panels can reproduce much better colors and picture quality than the subpar TN panels used in pretty much every gaming monitor today, except for a few of the Eizo models. In other words, Acer is combining great picture quality with speed.

Acer says that the monitor will come with a black, slightly glossy design and a stand with tilt, height and swivel adjustments. It is also flicker-free and features a “blue light filter”, which ensures a pleasant experience after many hours of gaming.

Full specifications were not released, but at CES a representative told us that the response time number is 4 ms (g2g) and that the monitor will support ULMB (ultra low motion blur) technology. It will feature a DisplayPort 1.2 port, which is required for all these goodies, and a HDMI port for gaming consoles.

He also told us to expect it released somewhere in late Q1, but as we know from the past these things tend to change after CES.

I'm reading about G sync and trying to get excited, but if it's tied to only nvidia gpus it's going to be a failure.

I'd never buy a monitor for a feature that will tie me down to one graphics chip maker, it's stupid.

That Asus with adaptive sync is where the money is at, and that's where I expect the market to go.

G sync is already dead based on its proprietary chain to nvidia in a quickly evolving gaming market between AMD and nvidia and Intel.


We already saw this story with nvidia lousy gameworks results and physx. Time to stop attributing poor results to good intentions, it's the intentions that are misguided and the source of the poor results. NVidia G sync has to follow this outcome, as the intentions behind it haven't changed. Segment the market for one company is bad for us as gamers and bad for the future of gaming, I'm upset this crap from nvidia is still tolerated.

I don't think G-Sync will die until Nvidia supports an open standard with their cards.

Maybe they could enable adaptive sync in the gsync module, then you'd have to buy a gsync screen 🙂
