It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the ASUS ROG Swift. Better viewing angles for sure but will the panel technology mean more blur?

They are claiming 1ms response times, so it should be equal in that respect. Of course I would feel better after it is tested by a 3rd party.

The official press statement doesnt say anything about the response time:
http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/press/2015/151682

BTW: Acer has announced that they will bring out a Swift like TN monitor with 1440p and G-Sync in march, too. I guess it will use the same panel like the Swift.

Actually, on the 3rd paragraph, it does say it is 1ms:
The XG270HU is the world’s first gaming monitor with an edge-to-edge frameless display which maximizes viewing area and provides a more seamless viewing experience for multi-monitor setups. A quick 1ms response time assures that actions or dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without smearing or ghosting effects.

The XG270HU is the one claiming to be an IPS panel, but suspected to be an AHVA, which is still good.

The way i read it, only XB270HU is claiming it is IPS and display tech is undisclosed for XG270HU. And it's XG270HU that is claiming 1ms?

But panel details aside it is great news, competition is most welcome in this god forgiven sector where 60hz LCD were norm for 15+years.

The XG270HU is most likely a TN Panel, but it seems like in March people will have a look to choose from. The 4K PLS Monitors from Samsung with Freesync will be out, there are already 4K TN panels with Gsync out. There will also be the ultrawide Freesync IPS monitors from LG as well.

Good times.

It'll be at least $1000. Possibly $1200. That's probably worth it to some people here, but not to me.

I bet the initial price may be similar to that, but as more of these come out, prices will eventually fall as there will be competition and enough monitors to go around. Right now there aren't enough monitors to meet the demands, so they are more expensive than they should be.

What's the price on this thing when you can buy a QNIX 2560x1440 Samsung display that will OC to 120Hz's for under $300.

I will wait somewhat longer until the 120+ Hz G-Sinc or Free-Sync PLS Displays subside in price.

I say buy a QINX 2560x1440 Samsung Display for now at under $300 and then consider buying your Free or G-Sync 144Hz PLS Display next Year for the same money when the technology has been refined.

Unless you got more money then you care to spend,$800 is completely REDUNKULOUS for this ACER unit!!!

In the time being you will love your $300 North Korean Samsung PLS Display.

I think Tom's misread which screen has 1ms (so did Guru3D). No IPS implementation ever seen before had been capable of 1ms GTG response times

Even if Samsung were based in 'North' Korea, the QNIX is not a Korean screen as it is made in China. While the panel is a core component, it is not the only one. A display is not just a panel.

Progress continues apace, but next time they should up the screen size to 32" so you get natural scaling instead of relying on Windows.

I'm really satisfied with the progress we've seen over the past 12-16 months. You have so much more choice today than than just a year ago.

When I bought my 24" 144 Hz TN panel 12 months ago I thought I'd have to use it for 6-7 years. Now I'll be doubtful if it will last another 12 months.

I don't think pricing is a issue for people, considering its a IPS what everyone has been wanting. If the its widely available when released, and the reviews are good it will sell well. I will be in for one if that is the case.

However, being a Acer monitor, i think it will be scarce to find. Acer simply does not mass produce monitors to sell at places like newegg/amazon, they prefer business market.

It says it will be "shipping globally in March 2015", which means it might be out already in asian nations real soon first. We will get a idea by then.

Finally a Gysnc display that doesn't suck. Hopefully unlike other Gysc displays the pricing is sane as well, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hopefully Dell will release a 30" 1600p IPS/VA monitor with FS/GS.

I'm not in the slightest interested in smaller size nor higher resolution monitors for gaming.

Why would you insist on one brand? Because you see Dell as the most American brand, perhaps?
