Hi guys!

Well, I'm new to the forum, and English is not my native language, so I'll make it simple =)... I lost the B in RGB, and I need a new display. I want a sexy TFT in my desk, but a good one too.
I searched around for some monitors, and the best one I could find (17" <650 Euros/$ ) was the 172x with the sweet 12ms (I like to play... alot), then I was making this search in the LG website and found the L1730, but I haven't find any review of it.

The plain and simple specs are more or less the same. Lg has a higher Contrast Ratio (550 :1 VS 500:1), and a smaller Pixel Pitch ( 0.264 vs 0.294 ), the Brightness is 250 for the LG and 270 for the Samsung. Considering the fact that I know nothing about TFTs, which one is the best choice?

I like to play action games, but I also like to mess with photoshop, and stuff like that. It's still a bad choice going for TFT? Well, CRT is still better (right), but is a LCD display THAT bad? Is it worth, spending 5, 6 times more for a 17" TFT over a 17" Crt?

Thanks in advance,

Pedro Pereira

Look like no one has the courage to reply to your post! :)

I looked over the specs for both the Samsung 172X and the LG L1730, and I would go for the 172X (that's what I plan on buying later this year).

The main reason is that it appears that the L1730 is analog only. Yuck. That alone makes it not worth purchasing, especially if you want to play games with it. Why buy a nice 12ms LCD when you can't use a DVI connection with it? I don't know what the engineers at LG were thinking.

Hope that helps!

EDIT: It appears that the 710T, not the 172X, is the LCD monitor to get from Samsung. Go with that one.
