TFT monitors: static ghosting is normal?

I have bought a cheap 17 inch TFT with analog connector,
and I can notice a ghosting, most noticeable at the edges of the
windows. I mean static ghosting, not the ghosting on moving pictures.
The ghosting or "smearing" or "bleeding" is from left to right, precisely
the same way that the pixel signal travels through the screen.

Is this normal, or is just that my TFT panel is substandard?
The model name is LiteOn U170ATA. I think Scanport and Gem sell
an equivalent model in the US.

I believe that is probably due to the monitor build itself. I have a Samsung Syncmaster 760Vtft and notice no such thing. Unfortunately you always get what you pay for :( mostly

Yes, I think my TFT was too cheap.
But the Samsung 760 is a DVI one. Have you tried to use the
analog connection?

Try playing around with the pixel clock settings if you're using the analog connector. Also make sure you're only using 60hz.

I have a "fine" control, that adjusts the capture clock.
Yes, this control is useful to improve the crispness of the image, but doesn´t affect the ghosting.
and about 60Hz instead of 75Hz, well, ghosting remains

I have noticed that this ghosting depends on the graphics card. For example,
the ghosting is quite severe with an old Matrox Millenium, even if the picture is quite crisp.
with a modern Savage 4, the picture is less crisp, but the ghosting dissapears almost completely.
With an ATI Radeon, the picture is crisper again, but, again, ghosting is more noticeable (although not
as severe as with the MAtrox).

This is clearly a problem with the ADC of the display, because the ghosting doesn´t exist in the OSD
images (On Scren Display), which are generated internally. So, if the incoming signal is very sharp (Matrox
and ATI) then an sampling-echo appears, and thus, ghosting.

If I rise the contrast, then the ghosting dissapears, but the image gets too "solarized".
Well, I guess Morphius is right, you get what you pay for. :(
I wonder why not all TFT´s carry DVI connectors. In my case, this problem would have been solved.
Many people say that DVI connector doesn´t produce better image quality. Well, I now know that this
is false. :(

I notice ghosting on my monitor until it warms up. Some monitors take 30 minutes before nominal performance.

maybe you can try a matrox video card to see if ghosting still exists.

Its the analog connection. Using an nvidia card?

Anyone that says DVI does nothing is an idiot. It makes a huge difference.

right now my monitor is warm and there is still some ghosting. I don´t know if the ghosting is
bigger when it is cold... I will pay attention next time.

Yes, I have tried a Matrox, but it is very old: its a Matrox Millenium 8MB. The DAC is only 230 MHz
I think, but the image is very very crisp. But there is ghosting.
Also I have tried an ATI Radeon 64MB VIVO. The DAC is 350 MHZ, I think and the image is
very crisp and ghosting is quite reduced.
Also I have tried a Savage 4: the DAC is 300 MHz, but the image is fuzzy. No ghosting, though.
I haven´t tried an nVidia.

Even Toms Hardware guide said recently that there is no noticeable difference between DVI and analog... :(
I am becoming increasingly reluctant to believe what reviewers say. They are liars or stupids most of the times.

I wanted a DVI one, but I had a xtremely tight budget and I had no option.
It is funny: the DVI connection shouldn´t increase the cost of a monitor, and will improve image quality considerably;
but the manufacturers, for some dark reason, prefer to avoid that connector. Shame on them! :(

I have turned off my monitor for more than 10 minutes so that it cooled down,
but when I turned it on again, the ghosting was the same that it was when warm.

Does any of you have a cheap TFT 17 inch? for example, AOC, Envision, Scanport, or Gem?
some ghosting around windows?
This is important for me, because if some of you have this problem too, then that would mean that
it is normal; otherwise maybe I have to RMA my monitor.
