I noticed an improvement, but at 1920x1200 with the 4870 I still drop down to 30-40 fps in heavy firefights / large outdoor parts. I am wondering if the Q9550 helps even more. It's basically a quadcore version of mine.

Record a demo in the game, then type timedemo "demoname" with multicore enabled, and again with it disabled. It will give you an average fps in the console.

Make sure the demo is only a few minutes, but gets some good action in it.

Thanks!!

In a 32 player server timedemo I made that had plenty of action, I got 68.09 average fps with multicore off and 96.18 average fps with multicore on.

Wow, HUGE improvement for my x2 3800+ w/ 7900gt & 2 gigs of pc2100 ram, played 1680x1050 pretty smooth considering i was watching online tv on my second monitor, w/ settings maxed out and 2xAA/4xAF. I never appreciated how good the characters looked before in the character selection screen, it reminded me of that plastic army men game for N64... but like 100x more detailed

I'm going to need run some benchmarking. I'm curious if a lower end dual core cpu will see much of a % gain.
