tf2 used to be fun before they added all that extra fluff. I know lots of people just flat out stopped playing it, including me.

What blows my mind is they add so much useless stuff to the game, it just ruined to core gameplay full of imbalances. Yet never fixed the issues that have been in game since day one.

This game had already peaked by the the time it went Gold. The beta was nice while it lasted though.

Game is unstable as hell since the update lol, I had more crashes last night than I've had in the last year.

Re: items/balance, it used to bug me too, but then again for 98% of players TF2 isn't supposed to be super competitive. It's basically enjoyable semi-chaos. Further with all the game modes available, map styles, and player counts that are possible, what do you balance for? 6v6 payload? 12v12 conquest? 16v16 ctf? Each would be different; so as long as nothing they introduce is a glaring issue, I'd say call it good enough and just enjoy yourself.

You're in the minority. I don't have a problem with your opinion but I very much doubt that the majority of the TF2 population don't appreciate all these free updates since the game's launch.

IMHO, the high point of TF2 was right before the Sniper/Spy update. That's when quality started taking a dip in favor of "more stuff faster".

Ah, I miss those days of bug fixes and gameplay balance changes...

Damn, too late to get in here before the trolls started complaining about how TF2 has been ruined. Every single time there is a TF2 thread, you can count on it.

I'll be checking it out this weekend. Can't wait.

I got my Manniversary Paper Hat last night. Also like how they added 4 preset item configurations per class.

Just started playing again recently. As someone above has already said, spending too much time worrying about balance/competitive play just isn't the point in TF2 for me.. it's just a casual/fun FPS. That said, I need to go find someone who wants to give me free stuffs!

Awesome update, TF2 is the only FPS that I can keep going back to time and again. The art style has kept its' charm. I used to bitch and moan about all the updates too, I originally quite after the Demoman/Soldier update which at the time I felt ruined the game (Sword and shield OP!!).

I couldn't have been more wrong, I started playing again after it went F2P and the game is simply outstanding. Better than ever.

I agree, but you could also make the case that this applies to TF2 in general vs TFC. I would make that case as well, so I am predisposed to not like any changes in TF2. A medic without the ability to infect people = FAIL!!!

It would be awesome if future TF2 threads could exclude all the little babbies. We get it. TF2 updates have plundered all the fun from the game for you. We've heard it a million times now.

Its the yin and yang of TF2...cant have one without the other! Without the babies this would be a thread of circle jerking TF2 fanboys. Is that really what you want? :p

I still like the game but they blew it with the latest update. I haven't had the game crash on me for years until the update. Now it crashes all the time. It sucks when you're about to run in with an uber and you or your medic have the game crash.

^ drivers? I haven't had a single crash.

The game still plays exactly like it used to, regardless of all the additions. And in many cases, the default loadout is still the most OP of all. The Heavy minigun, the Soldier Rocket Launcher, Demoman Grenade Launcher, Scout Scattergun, Medic Syringe gun... these are the default weapons and they're the best gun available in my opinion. The default melee weapons are generally useless, but for the main and secondary weapons, the default loadout is still the best in many cases.

I just tried TF2 the other day for the first time ever. I thought it was going to be a nice simple, casual game. Some quick, mindless fun. Turns out to be really complicated and I really don't feel like spending hours/days learning the ins and outs of this game.

Nope. I almost take that as an insult.

Tons of people are getting crashes after the update, both green and red camp. Check the steam forums. I'd say you are in the minority if you're not getting any right now. Perhaps it could be a server bug not affecting the server(s) you play on. But it has been happening to every single player on the servers I play on (lotus).

Don't worry about the fluff. Just load up 2fort and play with stock equipment. In many cases playing stock is better in my opinion.

The gameplay is simple on this map and for me it never gets old. Capture the intel.

Hey, I play on lotus servers too. My original name was 2pyros1cup. Changed my name about 3 months back to 'A Shrubbery!'. We've probably played together. I'm usually on 2fort.

Game updated last night again and it's crashing fairly frequently now. It's pretty funny when the server just suddenly lose half the people in it. Then you crash 5 mins after. :\

EDIT: Just updated again 7 minutes ago. Hope that fixes it.
