TF2 Incorrect Statistics

EDIT: After reading the TF2 blog, I should make a note that I just started playing this game three days ago. If I found any exploits on how to use a Sniper Rifle on a Sniper and a Flamethrower on a Pyro, then it was completely by accident.

When I was playing last night, my stats in the 'Your Best Moments' screen all showed correct, up-to-date numbers. When I loaded my game today, some of them had been reverted back to a previous point.

For instance, my points for Sniper was 28 and now it is back down to 10, yet the time playing it is still at 5:45:XX. My Most Assists are now governed by a Soldier when it was for a Pyro and so fourth.

Just little things like that, but I cannot figure out why they reset themselves. Anyone else had this trouble and/or know how to get my old statistics back?

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, occasionally all of the servers will display 0ms Ping and no players in ALL games - forcing me to restart the game just to find a server to play in. Anyone know why this happens?

As good as Steam can be, it specializes in errors that appear to be distinct for every user, ensuring that no one will ever figure out what the hell is going on.

Check firewall and ports.

I'm pretty sure TF2 saves stats at the end of the round. If you quit early you'll lose your stats.

I got onto a map the other day where very strange things were happening. I played a medic, and I died after about 30 seconds, in which time somehow I healed 200,000 points, so my total points for the medic are 287, while the next highest, engineer, is 24.

I'm surprised valve hasn't fixed that stat. It's very clear that it's a mistake.

TF2 stats are buggy and always have been. I've set records for most sentry kills as a Scout, most healing as a Sniper, etc. I've even seen the variable fields not fill in at all. It's also possible that you joined a wacky server.

Thanks for the responses. Makes me feel a bit better knowing that I'm not the only one who experiences this. Although, it does bug the hell out of me.

My stats have always been accurate for all classes, however I stay away from any server that looks even remotely buggy.

There are servers out there that are setup to be this way on purpose (one shot doing a million damage, 5 seconds of healing counting as 500,000 health, etc). It's not Valve's fault, they don't control the servers.

That being said, they really should only take stats from servers running vanilla gameplay. Instant respawn and all of these other server variables greatly affect balance, which can really screw with some stats.
