Texture issue w/ 8800GTX?

I'm noticing some images looking somewhat washed out in HL2 with an 8800GTX. I didn't have the issue before with my old 6800GT, but I never turned up all the eye candy, either.

Settings are all at max, 16xAF, 16xQ Transparency AA. Gamma correction AA tried both on and off. Forceware 97.02 drivers.

Here are a few images:

Am I setting something wrong or is it an immature driver issue?

Thanks in advance,
Indy

It's a driver issue with the G80 series. Should be fixed with newer driver revisions.

why dont you try using ingame settings and leave the contorl panel alone.

nvidia configures the contol panel to the most compatible settings possible.

try to use ingame settings whenever possible.

I actually prefer the Control Panel's settings over the in game settigns whenever possible. A good Control Panel should be able to offer a card's best possible image quality for said game. These drivers just kind of suck right now and they'll get better. Until then people will just have to play everything else but Source based games if they don't want visual hiccups. (Kinda strange that they include Dark Messiah for some of their purchases yet have a foggy issue with games that use that engine...)
