I just purchased a Fujitsu Siemens CTM7010 17" LCD monitor and hooked it up to the vga out on my laptop (analog). The monitors max resolution is 1280 * 1024. When using this resolution, all text and boxes are shaded slightly (but very noticably). Does anyone have any suggestions why this is? When reducing the resolution, the problem disappears. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if this is your problem, but we've solved similar problems with conventional CRT monitors by using a higher-quality and/or shorter video cable.

I tried to hook up the monitor to another laptop woth the same graphics card (ATI Rage Mobility). This laptop was running Win ME unlike the first one which runs on XP. On the second laptop the problems disappeared completely -- the picture was perfect. I guess this implies that the problem is software- related..?

Any other suggestions, perhaps?

Thanks for your help anyway.

It may not be a software problem. Maybe your laptop just has a crappy filter. They internal connection is purely digital so I doubt that they would rigourously test a filter which probalby wont be used much anyway.

Have you used the monitors Onscreen Display to pole around in any of the settings? Does it have an Auto-adjust?

Try playing with the Phase setting.
