My Aim forwards to my phone and I can reply back
If I don't want to waste my minutes, for me 5 texts=1 minute and I only have 20 minutes a month or if I'm roaming, the text still cost the same, but the minutes are more
Nice, cheap for random short messages

it's good for text messaging jokes to your friends while you're in a boring meeting.

I just use it as a pager. Works great for people with extension on the phone numbers. Quicker than a voicemail, and I don't have to listen to somebody ramble off a 15 digit phone number in 1.2 seconds when they speed read it off in a vmail.
