Text file format for PC to Mac?

I need a essay I typed on my computer on the MACS at school and I'm wondering what file format to save it as. PC Formatted disks work in MACs correctly right?

So what should I save it as? .rtf, .doc, etc...

No, PC formatted floppies do not read in a Mac without special software, such as VirtualPC running on a Mac, or read Mac floppies in a PC with WinMac running on a PC. Easiest would be to e-mail from the Mac to your PC as text.

That isn't completely true.

Any mac with OS 7.5 or newer should have no problem reading a PC (Windows) formatted disk (after 7.5 PC Disk access became a standard feature in the OS, as a control panel). Save the file as text (with line breaks [or cover your ass do one with and one without]).

Also Word should have no problems importing between version and across platform.

Word for Mac and Word for Windows use the same file format. And any halfway recent Mac should be able to read and write PC format floppy disks. The only problem you might have is if the file is too big for 1 floppy.

Claris has pretty good Import fiilters/extensions assuming they're installed you should have no problems.

If you have web access the easiest thing to do is make a hotmail account and email it to yourself (don't delete it) and you can grab it anywhere (avoid using a disk). (If you include it in the message body instead of as an attachment you won't have a problem at all).

Why can't you just do it at home and print it then take it to school?

I guess I'll just send it to Hotmail as some suggested as that would be easiest as long as they let me on hotmail. The school is usually a bitch about checking email but in this case I should be able to.

I did type it and print it at home but I need it because we are doing something where we put our work on the internet.
