Text bounceback issue-help!

So, my wife's aging GS5 (on AT&T) is experiencing odd text behavior. When she initiates a group text, no problem, it arrives on every recipient's phone. However, when she replies to my reply to her initial message, the message bounces back to her, saying that the recipient's (my) number has no area code; this only happens with my number. In her contacts, my phone (GS7 Edge on Verizon) is listed with the full 10-digit number, but at the top of her screen in the conversation, I show up as a recipient with only the seven-digit number, no area code. We cannot figure out what is going on, but it is messing with our ability to group text big time. Any idea what might be causing this? If she texts just me (or I her), we go back and forth, no problem; this glitch only shows up when I am included in a group text initiated by her. Thanks for any help you all might offer.

Try a different texting app. If everything shows up correctly, that would indicate an app problem. Then a wipe/reinstall of the app might work, or even simply clearing the cache. If it's still wrong in the new app, it would probably be something in the system. Dunno where to go from there in a non destructive fashion, but at least the issue will be narrowed down.

Yeah, I was using Textra, which I really like, but I went back to the default Verizon app, and so far, so good. So, for now I'll assume it was just an app issue. Thanks.
