not mentioned in that little blurb about the military installations is that ft hood s the largest armored post in the US, and is the only one capable of supporting two full armored divisions.
In its arsenal, the post has an array of modernized warfighting equipment. There are more than 500 tanks, including the most modern ? the M1A2 System Enhancement Program Abrams tank ? almost 500 Bradley fighting vehicles, about 1,600 other tracked vehicles, almost 10,000 wheeled vehicles and close to 200 fixed and rotary-winged aircraft including the high-tech AH-64D Longbow Apache.
also, there are 42,000 soldiers there.

also, texas has its own power grid, so cali would be suffering blackouts when all their imported electricity is cut off.

Cali has more people and streetgangs. And if the village idiot who went missing from texas 6 years ago is any indication, the standard BTTF "Hey Biff, what's that?" should work very nicely 😉

41,999...

I'm gonna go ahead and take that day off.

[Edit] Wait, make that 20,999. 1CD's out playing in the desert...

I'll just add:

Population of California: 33,132,147

Population of Texas: 22,859,968

Um, I'm going with California FTW!!!

There's also this:

2005
State - 2005 GSP ($millions)
California - 1,621,843
Texas - 982,403

Population won't help California, they'd roll over like France in... pick a war. A smaller force with superior training and equipment can lay the smackdown on a larger force any day of the week. See: Battle of Mogadishu. The economic advantage will help you in a prolonged struggle (see: US Civil War), so Texas would have to get it over quickly.

Oh yeah, almost forgot...

<bush>Don't mess with Texas</bush>

This is Texas, as a whole, Vs the commie-hippy state of California? Even with california's extra military bases (assuming the military doesn't just stand aside and let the two state's civvie populations go at it), we have more guns per capita then California. So they have a higher population? Big deal - more targets!

Texas, ftw! Down with the lower 48 (plus Canada), viva la Succession! 😛

Yeah I'm leaving assets and personnel of the US government out of the equation, because if this hypothetical war between Texas and Kalifornia were to take place, the US government would hypothetically have to not exist.

You're not taking into consideration the fact that fully half of Cali residents will head for Canada first.

CA would only need to destroy/block the roads, tunnels and bridges leading into the state, and Texans would have a hard time getting over the mountains and through the deserts.
In the mean time, our air forces can bomb Texas back to the 19th century, and then our navy and marines would arrive through the Panama Canal and finish the job. In the mean time we can relax and watch Texas be destroyed on TV. 😀

Our gangs would clobber the sh*t out of the Texans.

Last I checked, gang bangers didn't know how to properly hold a firearm, much less use one.

If the military is involved, California would win. If it is civilian only, Texas would take it easily.

Texas would pretty much have to attack through Arizona, since taking two armored divisions over the Sierras would greatly slow them and leave them vulnerable to air assault on narrow mountain roads. This would basically leave Texas having to attack along the fairly short border with Arizona. This could be easily defended with California's available air and ground forces. Texas' supply lines through the desert to supply their forces with fuel and water would also be vulnerable to air assault.

While the battle along the Arizona border is going on, California would park the entire third fleet off the coast of Texas and level their cities and refineries with cruise missiles and air assaults. Once their fuel supply is cut off, Texas is screwed. California could then use their superior economic ability to build up their ground forces for an invasion.

Your gangs have enough trouble killing each other, much less some Texas boys. Go deal your crack and cocaine...we'll leave you alone when we take over that sh!t for a state people call California. 😛

Texas

between all the airpower, B-1 bombers, many many fighters, all the mobility aircraft. then you got all the armour and infrantry at all the Army bases. Texas will win hands down.

My point exactly. Texas is a road apple. 😀
