Texas State Troopers and my road trip

OutHouse

Lifer
Driving from Denver to College Station I take Highway 287 from the panhandle to I-35w north of Ft. Worth, its about 300 miles. While i was on 287 from Amarillo to Decator i swear to god there were more State Troopers working traffic than i have ever seen. My radar detector went off just about every 30-40 miles with no false alarms. they never got me but there were 3 times that people passed me and sure enough a few miles down the road they were busted.

Oh and the speed limits down there suck. 70 daytime, 65 at night? thats totally stupid.

Better than 55 and 65, the highest limit on the two major interstates near me.

What is so stupid about that? Is 70mph unreasonable??? Hell of a lot better than 55 in some parts of the country and 60 or 65 in other parts. Then the suggested speed limit is 65 at night, and you bitch about that? Do you really think it is safer to drive faster when you have less visibility?

Yeah, there is something stupid here but it is not the speed limits.

How strictly is it enforced? Here in AL/GA the highest speed limit is 70, but I've never seen anyone pulled over unless they were going over 80... or were in a construction zone.

boston?

Boston is even more dangerous than driving in Dumbfukistan. But they have an excuse, they all drive with one hand out the window flipping people off!

The last time i was pulled over was in southeast Texas in some backwater town with a nice little speed trap that went from 60 to 30 in about 1/4 mile. I was taking a chick down to galvaston and the cop let me off with a warning. pretty sweet!

Not as bad as going down to Tampa, Florida at night. We drove by a total of 7 cars pulled over in an hour a week before Christmas.

Okay oh smart one, please enlighten all of us: How is having a slower nighttime speed limit unresonable?
Visibility is poorer .. . so you should drive faster?

I blew past an Oklahoma Trooper once going 105 as he sat under a viaduct as I came around a bend. Thank god he wasn't paying attention or otherwise occupied because I damn near shat myself.

Why were you coming down to college station? And yes around the holidays state troopers are all over the place..... There have been tons of accidents in the past and they have tons of troopers around this time of year.
