Perry's done some serious shit, not just this. But he'll never be nailed for any of it. Same with Hillary. Laws are for the plebeians.

Perry is no longer Governor and the DA involved is not running again and has her term ending later this year. Meanwhile it looks like this complaint against the DA for potential ethics violations remains open although it's probably doubtful the charges could stick. Either way, good riddance to both of them.

Good! Perry is a complete moron but indicting him over a threatened veto was bullshit.

Never pass up an opportunity to demonize Hillary.

It's Texas. Of course they let him off the hook.

If you read the link from Post 245 it lays out the legal grounds for the court to have dismissed the charges. On short the Constitutional power of veto can't be infringed by an act of legislature, even if that veto is being used for reasons that were blatantly political, unethical, or any other reason. It's like the power of pardon for the POTUS, where its absolute and not subject to checks and balances or either judicial review or acts of legislature. We could have a separate discussion about whether that's a good or bad thing, but that's the basis of the ruling and it doesn't seem unsound or particularly partisan in application (even if in this instance it's partisan in effect, but that's simply a function of who is involved).
