Gabriel: Umm, God?
God: Yeah?
Gabriel: Umm, remember that woman in Texas who you told to sacrafice her sons to see if she had true faith?
God: Oh yeah, I'm gonna pull her back at the last second and tell her that she's proven her faith, just like I did with Abraham!
Gabriel: Umm...yeah...you might've missed the memo, but its a bit too late for that now....

From the same state where that dude shot his friend for snagging the last beer a few months back. We should sell Texas back to Mexico. :D

So you think the mental illness bit is an act? Could be I guess.
What I was referring to was the, apparently common, manifestation of metal illness as a "Messiah complex" ie. belief that they are god, or the belief that god is talking directly to them. I have a schizophrenic friend that has had episodes where he thinks he is Jesus :(

Whatever the woman says was her motivation to kill the children (and severly injure a 14month old) doesn't matter, the fact remains that two innocent young children were beaten to death with large rocks by someone they loved and trusted, and the resident idiots here on ATOT choose this as thread to make fun of religon or satirical remarks about heaven and hell.

She was just following God's example.

I feel sorry for the children and hope she gets the chair...

The God thing is obviously just a legal ploy, and should be ignored by the court as it would have little bearing ever if it were true that she believed that, which is very unlikely.

I only brought in religion because someone else did...this has nothing to do with religion as far as I am concerned she should get the chair.

Shooting someone over the last beer is totally justified. Smashing your children's cranuim in because God told you to is whack. I don't think God makes it his business to go around telling people to kill their children. Well unless of course your name is Abraham or you refuse to let the Jews go...or you look at a golden cow...no wait...he just made them wander the desert for 40 years over that one. Anyway....what was my point? Oh yeah.....God would not kill a child just to prove a point. No....wait...that can't be right....well.....have you ever noticed that creamy peanut butter isn't all that creamy? I mean sure it's creamy when compared to the chunky stuff....but creamy? I don't think so....when was the last time you added peanut butter to your coffee to make it creamy? So anyway back to God. Can someone make some sense of the following for me?

Leviticus 19:19 "You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; nor shall there come upon you a garment of cloth made of two kinds of stuff.

So if I read that corretly I'm going to Hell because I planted tomatoes, okra, onions, peppers, eggplant, and carrots in my garden. Well that and the fact that the shirt I have on is a cotton blend. Man....I can't catch a break.

And of course you have the entire state of Arkansas suffering eternal damnation because of

Leviticus 18

1 And the LORD said to Moses, 2 "Say to the people of Israel, I am the LORD your God. 3 You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes. 4 You shall do my ordinances and keep my statutes and walk in them. I am the LORD your God. 5 You shall therefore keep my statutes and my ordinances, by doing which a man shall live: I am the LORD. 6 "None of you shall approach any one near of kin to him to uncover nakedness. I am the LORD. 7 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father, which is the nakedness of your mother; she is your mother, you shall not uncover her nakedness. 8 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife; it is your father's nakedness. 9 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or born abroad. 10 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son's daughter or of your daughter's daughter, for their nakedness is your own nakedness. 11 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife's daughter, begotten by your father, since she is your sister. 12 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister; she is your father's near kinswoman. 13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, for she is your mother's near kinswoman. 14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother, that is, you shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt. 15 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son's wife, you shall not uncover her nakedness. 16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife; she is your brother's nakedness. 17 You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and of her daughter, and you shall not take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter to uncover her nakedness; they are your near kinswomen; it is wickedness. 18 And you shall not take a woman as a rival wife to her sister, uncovering her nakedness while her sister is yet alive. 19 "You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is in her menstrual uncleanness. 20 And you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her. 21 You shall not give any of your children to devote them by fire to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. 22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. 23 And you shall not lie with any beast and defile yourself with it, neither shall any woman give herself to a beast to lie with it: it is perversion. 24 "Do not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am casting out before you defiled themselves; 25 and the land became defiled, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you shall keep my statutes and my ordinances and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you 27 (for all of these abominations the men of the land did, who were before you, so that the land became defiled); 28 lest the land vomit you out, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. 29 For whoever shall do any of these abominations, the persons that do them shall be cut off from among their people. 30 So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs which were practiced before you, and never to defile yourselves by them: I am the LORD your God."

2 Cor 11:14 And no wonder! For Satan himself is disguised as an angel of light. 15 So it is no great thing if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their destiny will be according to their works.

2 Timothy 3:13 Evil people and imposters will become worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Sad story. :(

just an afterthought:

wasn't the woman just exercising her rights?

It seems ironic that most of those attacking "god" for this tragedy would consider this woman innocent if she had paid a doctor to suck the children's brains out before they were born.

Thought you were going for a pun there for a second...guess that would be exorcising her rights though.

How can one attack something that's non existent? Her reasoning had to do with Mental illness, not some so called Divine Message from some Omnipotent Being or Entity.
