omg, someone missed a previous post.....put them on trial with this woman!

Nice work Texas...good thing those cops had the time to bust this operation...

Aren't there hundred's of thousands of illegals crossing into Texas each year? Is there nothing else for these cops to do?
Shame on us all if she actually gets jail time for this....

Repost. Don't you people ever go to P&N?

I searched for "Joanne Webb" Nothing came up... Get over yourself.

Might search a little harder by going to P&N and looking at the top 20 threads there. Especially since this is a news thread and there *might* be a small chance it was posted in the NEWS forum.

I think Dissipate needs to loosen up a bit too.

My wife and I went to a sex toy party back in December and the sales reps showed offed many of the toys (not sexually). But last week, we went to another, same sales reps, and they said they could not demonstrate the toys, sexually or otherwise, for fear of getting busted and citing this case.

I am pretty conservative, but Texas is being pretty damn stupid with this case.

Entrapment is such a gray area IMO. Women cops dressing up as hookers soliciting sex just to arrest someone IMO is entrapment. Just a way for the police dept. to make their $$$.

I thought that out-of-control vibrators killed people. No?

I dunno. Felt I was due for a change. This is one I haven't seen used very often.

Geez.... whomever ordered this "sting" should be lined up and summarily executed for wasting everyone's time and resources on stupid things when there are real crimes and problems to be handled. Sheeesh....

I've met this woman!

I was standing in line at Barnes & Noble and she was in front of me. She was talking to the cashier and the cashier recognized the name. She was like a celebrity. I got to shake her hand.

The general feeling was the cops were forced to make the arrest by some city employee. Most people felt that they should just leave her alone.

Burleson is not really a small town. It's part of the Dallas-Ft Worth metro area.

I live in the Dallas-Fort Wortha area, and the first thing you gotta realize is that the city of Dallas is just about worthless as well as their police department.

Sure it is a pretty dumb deal with what happend, and I hope the laws in Texas needs to be changed.

Rule of thumb in Texas is to not piss off the Baptist Bretheren...

Reading the link does sort of suggest they're the town sluts and some morally questionable parties involving teens.

The woman wears a short mini skirt to church & shows off her panties? That's pretty tasteless, especially when the blue haired ladies gang up on you for it.

I think the law is pretty stupid & it's hard as hell to find sex toys in Texas because of it. I'd have to drive ~25 miles to buy high proof alcohol from where I live, stupid dry county:(

But you can call a hooker to your house or pick one up on Harry Hines with very little problem:confused:

It's the DA's careful attention to stuff like this that's helped us get one of the highest murder rates per capita in the US:(

I watched this on Dateline or 20/20 - the lady seems really down to earth and nice, she's an active member in church, used to be a sunday school teacher, and an overall productive member of society. Stupid religious zealots.

I find that very ironic, considering that about half of the ads on the radio here in Austin are for adult entertainment places.

A total waste of taxpayer money. If this woman was selling them out on the street corner to 12 year olds I might care, but considering that the poice had to go undercover to catch her breaking any laws is just ludicrous. This is yet another one of those laws that is on the books under the auspices of "public safety", yet seems to only apply when nobody is actually being hurt, by any means.

Not to mention how expensive undercover work is. The man hours involved, the equipment, surveilance, etc. It all comes out of the taxpayer's pockets. And like people have said, it takes cops away from other, trivial jobs, like stopping murders. :|

EDIT: Oh yeah, not to mention that this thing happened in a private home. Now if this was a drug deal or something, yeah, I could dig it, but there are numerous provisions, federal and state, that prevent the enforcement of laws like the infamous Texas anti-Sodomy law. Selling sex toys isn't exactly the same, but it's sure close.
