Letting them search his car was a mistake. Looks like they damaged it, and they could have easily planted drugs there.

Always say no to searches. And answer nothing. 90% of the time they're just fishing, so you gain nothing and have everything to lose (whether you think you've done anything or not).

This.

"I don't consent to any searches, officer."

"Am I free to go?"

Wait, Houston cops were actually trying to do something? That should be news by itself.
LOL!

Why would someone "give" a homeless person drugs? Don't dealers typically want to sell their products, preferably to people with a continuing ability to pay? Seems like a ludicrous presumption to assert that he was giving a valuable commodity away for free to someone with no chance of repeat business.
That is a pretty bizarre concept. I would not have suspected that drug dealer charity was a burning societal problem.

The cops are just trying to crack down on the brilliant marketing solution of giving your product away to people who can't afford it in a clever scheme to get them hooked and be unable to pay you for more product they now desperately crave.
:D

Obviously the solution is to only give bills, and before handing it over grasping it lightly by one corner, holding it up out at arm's length, and slowly rotating 360 degrees so that all the hidden cameras get a clear view.

I dunno. Piss 'em off by making them wait for a warrant and if you have no drugs they might well plant some.

I'd rather risk the minuscule chance of them planting something versus the very real chance of having my car torn apart and not put back together.

Well, that an the whole principle of the thing...

No hits for stops cited in the OP or citations for falsified arrests. There are arrests of officers for DWI, sexual predation/assault, involvement with drugs, sex with inmates/supplying drugs to inmates. With the exception of the dealing with inmates, these things are no different than some of the population of the US get caught doing. Damn I guess the Police and Sheriffs are human.

So, you're not even going to pretend to discuss this honestly? Ok, your choice.

The guaranteed shit ton isn't an honest representation when the google searches only show maybe 20 hits per category. The truth of the matter is the vast majority of police and sheriffs do their job and aren't as corrupt like Oldgamer sees them to be.

Maybe I should claim the RCMP are as corrupt if not worse than Houston area police and sheriffs, it would be as honest as Oldgamer's claim.

Difference being as there simply isn't the evidence of the RCMP consistently behaving badly, being charged/fired, etc. as there is for various police depts like Houston's.

It's ok, if you want to be an apologist for corrupt police that's your choice.

Not defending or apologizing for police/sheriffs that have acted badly just keeping the fact that many police/sheriffs do their jobs without being corrupt every day in perspective. This forum is always pointing out the worst of police while ignoring the good that others do on a daily basis.

You're an apologist.

Prevention is the best measure. Don't give homeless people anything, better yet, don't donate anything, it might make you a target. Better still, don't leave your house and stay offline and never...ever, answer the door.

texas is a toilet.

Really? Which city had cops that forcibly shoved a plunger handle up a man's ass in a police station again? Because if you think this type of behavior by cops is only isolated to Texas, the South, etc you are very mistaken.

Texas Man gives change to homeless person, is handcuffed and held by police for an hour

Greg Snider was in a Houston, Texas parking lot, on the phone making a business call. While in the lot, a homeless man approached his car and asked for change. Snider gave him 75 cents and then drove off.

There are ~12,000 comments. Many of them are relating similar experiences.

It's time to start voting and kicking out all incumbent police chiefs and judges, everywhere. It's also time to start thinking about cops and DA's as liars in general, especially if you're on a jury for any kind of civil or criminal case.
