heh thats idiotic. arresting someone over $7? sheesh

No, what's idiotic is the concept that stealing $7 isn't really stealing because it's only $7. He robbed the restaurant, it doesn't matter if it's $7, $70 or $700. Don't do the crime and you won't have to do the time.

It's idiotic that you think eating off someone elses plate is stealing.

ROFLMAO. You're a moron, no wonder you're siding with the moron. Okay Zippy, walk into a buffet with a family of 10 and buy one plate and let everyone eat. Think you'd get arrested? Even you can't be stupid enough to think that's okay. How about 8 people? Think the restaurant will let it slide if 8 people eat off one plate? Still going to get arrested, huh? How about 5 people? Is it okay to buy one plate and feet a family of five? Think the restaurant will just look the other way? If it's illegal with 10, it's illegal with 8 and illegal with 5 it's equally illegal with 2. You pay for one to eat, one eats. Period. Only on ATOT could you possibly find someone moronic enough to believe that 1=2. Congratulations, you're that person. Your mommy must be proud.

Y'all have to learn how to read news articles. His admission of guilt was that his gf ate a couple bites off his plate, acc. to the article. That doesn't mean they arrested him for sharing a couple bites of food. Or that that's the complaint against him. The manager may charge that he illegally shared plates and plates of food, and maybe he did.

That is a LOT different than one person having a buffet and one other person with them eating a couple bites of something off their plate.

Question: did his girlfriend order a meal and really just have a couple bites, or are the "couple bites" all that the girlfriend had to eat at the restaurant. That makes a big difference in my opinion. I can't count the number of times that my wife had a meal with an unlimited salad bar, and I had a meal that didn't come with a salad. While waiting for my food, I'd occasionally grab something off her salad - a cherry tomato or something.

In that situation, I'd be pretty irritated if they wanted to charge me for the unlimited salad bar, just because I ate 2 cherry tomatoes, especially if I had a rather expensive meal that I ordered. Of course, while I'd protest, I wouldn't refuse to pay. I suppose if it irritated me enough, I could temporarily develop bulimia & make sure I got my money's worth from the salad bar. Nah, on second thought, I'd just never go back to that restaurant.

Of course it is if it's an all you can eat buffet. I doubt the restaurant would care if she ordered her own meal and just had a few bites of his food. They probably both had full meals from the buffet.

Eh, it's a culture thing. I go to Chinese restaurant all the time where they allow you order one plate of food and share it w/ a bunch of people.

I probably wouldn't have called the police but, I would have embarrassed him in front of his lady and other guests. Then, I'd tell him to have a nice day and don't come back to my buffet. I already offer a great deal on my buffet. I don't have a problem losing customers who try to take advantage of my business.

good point. and yes i agree if she had her own plate then trying to charge him for trying something off his plate is BS.

His girlfriend stole food and he went to jail?

It seems like the girlfriend is the one who should have been asked to pay... not him.

while jail may have been excessive, the texans are a couple of douchebags(used by dirty whores over and over again without being cleaned)

The lesser charge of disorderly conduct leads me to believe that he put up quite a fuss at the restaurant, before and after the police showed up. My guess is that this was the real reason he was arrested.

I do think it strange that some of you think that someone eating a few bites of food should result in being charged for the whole plate. What if the GF ordered something else and not the buffet (we don?t know if she did or not) assuming she did and the BF got the buffet, they should be charged for a 2nd buffet simply because the GF wanted to try a bite of some random food item the BF got. That is simply moronic

that is common at non-buffet places but at a buffet that is completely different

every chinese place that I've been to that offers a buffet only offers the buffet but they may add stuff ontop

like soup or mongolian bar is extra (you still have to buy the buffet)

they typically do not offer anything a la carte other than charging togo from the buffet at $ X.XX per lb

Exactly. The couple of bites is about the same as the guy getting stopped in a stolen car on Cops and doesn't know why the ignition is popped out and he is using a screw driver to start the car since that is the way his buddy left it when he "lent" it to him.
