Texan declared innocent after 30 years in prison

After thirty years, it is ingrained. It'll start with something small like, even though he has the money to pay for something in his pocket, he'll steal something from a store. He'll start a fight for some stupid remark and beat the guy half to death. He'll get drunk and order a pizza and then rob the delivery man because he was late.

He is unable to function as a free man in society. This has nothing to do with education, intelligence or, willpower. It is a fact of long time imprisonment.

But, he didn't do any of these things to begin with...he wasn't a criminal when he went in. Why would he rob a store when he got out?

i am 100% convinced this man (Cameron Todd Willingham) was innocent. the DA in this case should get the needle as well.

Wow that is the saddest thing ever.

The most infuriating thing about it is how the arson detectives and DA completely dismiss any new evidence or findings. At the beginning, the arson guy mentions how he comes into each case with no pre-conceived notions. What BS. How many lives has this guy ruined?

Because that's what our prison system does. Being trained as a criminal is a matter of survival in prison. It doesn't matter what his outlook was before, after 30 years, he IS a criminal. It's not fair, it's not pretty but, that's the way it is.

I don't know if he's entitled to any money, but I would hope the state of Texas would give him something to get started with life again.

Did you not read your own link? It said right in the article he was entitled to compensation.
