What program can I use to intensively test out a stick of ram for bad blocks? I had a piece that constantly crashed one computer.... and wouldn't even detect at one time..but i threw it in another box and it seems to work fine.. but i am not totally convinced..

programs like SuperPi (calcualtes Pi to 32 million places) and Prime95 also test the memory system thourghly

A friend of mine recommended me something called GoldMemory. It tests in DOS mode, and includes a disk image for booting into DOS. Forgot the link though.

Hi,

i have tested several programs, and the best I have seen so far are memtest86 (link was already
given in a post earlier) and the Goldmemory.

the link was
www.goldmemory.cz (can not link it directly, as no JAVA / ActiveX is enabled, don't know what is needed to make the http button above working)

Both are DOS based tests, that should boot from DISK. The problem with windows based tests is, that Windows uses a lot of memory, that can not be tested!

bye
