My school uses a Bess filtering proxy. They block all the usual inappropriate things with URL and content filters, and my school blocks message boards and chats as well.
I'm assuming they use a URL/IP filter for the AnandTech forums, as I cannot get here no matter how I specify the address. So, I've just set up the router here to forward port 80 to my machine, where I have an AnalogX utility set up to map port 80 to 216.151.100.105, which is the IP of the forums server. Hope SWBell's DHCP lease holds out.

Actually, there are two people in the school capable of this, even if it is a simple thing. Luckily, he and I are friends. It's been three and a half years, the network admin knows to phear us by now.

[edit] Check this, if Bess can block the new, improved technique, I'll be surprised. I'm not using the standard ports anymore, I have port 1000 mapped to the forums, and 1001 mapped to Somethingawful. I could offer to add others' favorite web pages...
