I don't have to processor or monitor for my PC yet but is it ok to turn the power on to see if the Nexus's and the fans and dvd, and cdrw drives work...will i hurt anything? i know i will get BIOS beeps for the processor and monitor but is it ok just for 3 minutes for a test?

You can just momentarily connect the green with with one of the black ones on the powersupply mobo connector to turn it on if you want. (use a paperclip or a piece of wire)

I didn't know you'd get ANY activity without a processor at least mounted (even if it's a dead one).

Bozo is correct . connecting the green wire with the black wire on the pwr supply will spin up the pwr supply only. The rest of your stuff is connected thru the mo/bo and will need a cpu to operate.
