I have this lite-on DVD burner, seems to be bad. When ever I burn an image with nero and I have data verficiation on it spits 100s of errors back at me saying the data was writen wrong. But the question is - is the drive still good at READING files/disks? Is there a program/method I can do to test this?

Onlything I can think of is to have a 700mb file on the disk, copy it to the PC, run a MD5 checksum on it. And compare that checksum with the another computers CD ROM. Good idea yes?

The only thing that I know anything about is Nero CD-DVD Drive Speed. It's not exactly a direct test of the drive, but indirectly, it can be used this way.

What media are you using. If it is +R...try using -R. The liteon really sucks with +R disks...(at least the one I have)
