Testing a webcam on eMac

How do I test a webcam on an stock eMac 700 with Panther (10.3.9) without installing any new software?

Yea, photobooth came out with Tiger... Is there iChat? Does it support video chat? That's about all I can think of.

iMovie should recognize it if it's a standard USB webcam.

You may not have iMovie, of course.

I fired up iChat and started the login process. It did not find the webcam.

google the model of the webcam and mac drivers

you can also check the USB part of the System Profiler to see what's recognized

you might need 10.4 Tiger, or it might not have Mac drivers. some just don't.

example: i have an Alaris WeeCam, no Mac drivers exist for OS X.

i think it worked under OS 9, though... :/
