I was wondering what is the best way to test the throughput of a switch, or in general the connection speed between 2 computers. Preferably I would like to do this in such a way that I would not be limited by the speed of the processor etc...
For details:
I have a P2 300 laptop running win2k pro with a linksys 10/100 cardbus ethernet card
and a P2 266 Desktop running win98 with a dlink 10/100 card.
Both of those are connected to a linksys 10/100 switch(showing duplex 100mbs connections) which is also uplinked to my university's 10 mbs non-duplex ethernet.
I just got the switch, and even though it seems to be working properly, I see very little(if any) change in the communiation speed between my computers in comparision to when they were both plugged in to the university 10 mbs ethernet.
Thanks,
Orie
