Testing a coolermaster real power pro 650 PSU

Hi,

I recently bought cooler master real power pro 650 from newegg. I dont have a motherboard to check whether the PSU is working or not.

I tried googling and found that the pin 14(green)should be connected to any black wire to jump start the PSU.

I did the same. The psu fan just kicks starts for a split second and it stopped. I dont have a voltmeter to check the psu.

To be precise when i connect the green wire with the black one, the fan just starts and stops.

Do i have to assume that the psu is working or else it is not.

I am from India and i came to US on a business trip and bought this product. Kindly let me know whether this PSU is DOA.

Thank you

Thank you for your response. I called up the Cooler Master Tech Support, they said that it would require atleast 200 watts load to jump start using the paper clip. Now that i dont have anything with me to test with 200 watts of load.

The tech support guys even told me that they have tried using this PSU is a low spec system and i would not work.
Hoping that the power supply would work when i take it home.

So guys remember, 650 Real Power PRO needs a minimum of 200 watts load to start up.
