Tested: V5 vs GF3 Ti200

I just upgraded my video card and thought some of the V5 owners would like to see what kind of improvments they would get with a GF3 Ti200 upgrade. System is a 1ghz@1.2ghz T-Bird, 1GB PC2100 RAM, PNY GF3 Ti200.

V5 5500 AGP

CS 1024x768 = 80FPS
CS 1024x768 4xAA = 50FPS

UT 1024x768 = 60FPS (Monitor is capped at 60hz)
UT 1024x768 4xAA = 30FPS

Wolf MP 1024x768 = 15-27FPS
Wolf MP 1024x768 4xAA = 5-13FPS
Wolf MP lowest settings = 30-40FPS

Q3 1024x768 = 70FPS
Q3 1024x768 4xAA = 25FPS

3DMark2001 = 2030

GF3 Ti200

CS 1024x768 = 99FPS (Solid)
CS 1024x768 4xAA = 99FPS (Solid)

UT 1024x768 = 60FPS (Monitor is capped at 60hz)
UT 1024x768 4xAA = 60FPS (Monitor is capped at 60hz)

Wolf MP 1024x768 = 80-90FPS
Wolf MP 1024x768 4xAA = 40FPS
Wolf MP lowest settings = 90FPS (Solid)

Q3 1024x768 = 80-90FPS
Q3 1024x768 4xAA = 45-50FPS

3DMark2001 = 5839

mmm.. somethings not right with those GF3TI200 scores...esp in CS... I easily get 100+ FPS at 1024x768 with my GF2GTS 32MB.

What was the test bed you used?

CS doesn't go over 99FPS. When it says 99FPS Solid it means it doesn't move from 99FPS. It's stuck there since the HL engine can't go higher.

hey, you're right. It's been awhile since I played CS... That's kinda lame it's locked at 99.

How does FSAA compare?

I'm still using a V5 with an Athlon XP 1700, but haven't done any benching. Everything seems better than my 1.2 Tbird was, which was more than adequate.

The AA looks great. Honestly, it's not as good as the V5 but it's not bad at all.
