Test drove an M4 Competition Pack last week

Can't say I was blown away. Salesman wasn't happy with me booting it and getting the rear to kick out a bit, but what else do you expect when testing a performance car.

The alloys definitely look better in person.

Think it'll have to be an Audi R8 v10 (~3 years old), though not test driven one yet 😎

What about a C63S or an M5/M6?

Good suggestions. I've considered the merc, but I quickly went off the idea.

It'd be the M6 over M5, and I've had work colleagues trying to convince me on the M6. There are some great PCP deals, 0% bmw finance and hefty discounts. I may request a test drive. I'm just not completely sold on the M6 looks.

I'm attracted to the R8 V10 purely because of the engine if truth be told.

How about a 08-10 RS6 with the same V10?

I had the opportunity to trade in my rs5 +20k for an r8v10 but I just couldn't do it solely on the interior alone, but if you could look past that then it's a great car to have!

All these new performance cars are really fast, but frankly beyond a certain lowish point (like ~300hp) it's completely irrelevant on anything but a race track. And even then it's rarely relevant in practice because very few owners can drive fast anyway.

The biggest issue is most of the newer cars lack feel, usually due to more weight or electric steer, and a general concern for NVH. Even going insane speeds they don't really feel fast, which is problematic when the goal is to have some fun.
