Didn't the 04s and 05s have different motors.....ls1 vs ls2? Thus the significant difference in 1/4 times?

I was seeing 04s run 13.8s while 05s were hitting 13.2s

no, i think the 04 has the LS1 motor. pretty much the same 5.7 V8 making 350hp you had from the last Camaros and C5 non-z06 Vette.
the 05 has the LS2 motor, which is 6.0 V8 making 400hp.
IIRC: the LS7 is the Z06 motor. 7.0 V8, 500hp.

in your opinion, you think the Corvette (non Z06) worth the extra 15k or so? with looks aside, is the mechancial superiority in the Vette worth the extra dough?

(personally, I enjoy the rarity and the-almost-cult-like-status of the GTO... cuz soooo many people are driving the C6 nowadays)

to me, theres no contest... the GTO's interior is 10x better than teh vette (never driven a vette, but sat in them). The vette has more storage space, but the GTO has seats for 4 ppl. the Vette is lighter, and in the winter would not be as good in the snow as the GTO.
the Vette has different, better tech in spots, and is faster... but the GTO has a better interior, etc. i would go for the GTO if i had to pick between the two of them.

Also, 05's have 2500 off on them currently, and with good amount of haggling, you can get them OTD for 25k, or with less haggling its 27k.

also, you CAN relocate the fuel tank to get more storage, and you can quickly do an 06 taillight mod to change them to blacked out lights which look 10x better as well.

however, the shifter is a VERY long throw, if i knew of a short shifter for it, it would be like my first mod. also, the fuel pedal is HEAVY, VERY heavy for me.. so it was a much different drive than im used to.

one thing though, the vette has adjustable suspension so its harshness isnt as much... but the GTO is soft enough that its not insanely hard...

but the seats in the GTO are AMAZING.

go to your dealer, and find one, sit in it. once you do, the quality of the interior is insane compared to most GM's.

expect a full review, with more details in about 2-3 days.

do the full Holden Monaro conversion!

I would definitely consider buying a GTO just to convert it to a monaro... you'd have one of the maybe 10 monaros in the us 🙂

Errr...one of the 10 *GTOs made to look like Monaros* in the US
