I see a new game. You drive around in your dream car, somebody runs you off the road so you call the cops, who are real players, and they try to nab the guy. Also, you have to call the wrecker to tow your car, who is also a real life player. And you have to fix dmg to your car at a garage, run by a real player....

Even though I feel like you are making fun of my post, I still cannot help but laugh my ass off... That is funny... :D

kewl will check this out. NFS and Midnight Club turned me off from racers for a long time. Maybe this will get me interested again.

Jim,

I cannot quite figure out how to add players to my friends list... I will take a look at the manual later tonight. I plan on starting a car club (costs $350,000) unless you want to create one. It sort of allows the friends list to join up easier from what I understand. Played for like 4 hours last night!

The series really took a dump after that.

But this looks pretty sweet!

Yea, I was skeptical as well; for me, Test Drive has always meant 'unrealistic driving,' and while this is no GTL it's certainly enjoyable. Little things, like the fact that the Enzo shifts almost instantaneously (it uses those paddle shifters, with automatic clutch), show that the people who put this game together do know their cars. And the McLaren is the best video game representation of the car I've ever seen :D.

I won't be getting online until they patch the game to allow you to change offline profiles to online - which I'm told will happen, a big relief obviously.

This looks like fun. I was gonna do the digital download thing, but the retail-box version is cheaper, so I'll just wait 'til next week for that. What are y'alls opinions on the driving physics? Some games I've played (eg. NFS:MW, Xpand rally) make it feel like I'm driving a hovercraft

Aye, it does have that 'hovercraft' feeling at higher speeds, though; that'd really be my only complaint.

Any screens of NFS:U running on a pc with good hardware? I'd really like to see the difference, i feel the game looks good on the 360, but the ONLY thing that would make it better is antis tropic filtering set to 8x +, i know the game would be sooooo much cleaner with it, i dislike that the 360 appears to be some triliner BS. I can accept it though as when your driving, it looks great!!

EDIT: I was gonna wait till it came out for PC, but alas getting it in december(i couldent wait after seeing it) was better than getting it in march and knowing i could enable AF. :(

Spent almost all of yesterday trying to open up and find all the roads. I am only 73% there... They are not lieing when they say there is 1,000 miles of road... The game is huge... It is sort of like NFS:MW, but it is about 10 times the size, at least. 120 single player challenges, another 60+ MP challenges. 90 some vehicles at this time, hopefully more to come later. Graphics are significantly better than Xbox 360. I compared them on the same monitor at the same resolution... Having AA and AF really turns this into one beautiful game.

Wow... hadn't heard of this till now.

Most of the Test Drive games were rather weak. This sounds very very good and something I'd really like to play. One question, is there any customization to your car? I don't give a flying **** about all the decals and ricey crap like the NFS games, but some basic customization like in TOCA3, Gran Turismo, or Forza would be nice. TOCA3 is great but as you said, it's nice to drive real street cars on streets instead of just racers on tracks.

I sure wish there was a demo.

I like all kinds of racers. Very serious sims like GTL and GTR are a bit frustrating for me (just don't have the time), and I do enjoy some aracade ones, but not garbage like NFS MW or Carbon. The Underground ones were OK, but PU was definitely the best. I also own TOCA3. Richard Burns Rally is a superb racer. I couldn't get my wheel to work in CMR2005 for some reason. CMR3, 2004, and 2005 were all decent games, but they never felt as good of driving as the good ol CMR2.

If only I had some money... all of a sudden there's

STALKER
C&C3
Supreme Commander
Test Drive Unlimited

and more games, plus tons coming soon, that I want to play. :(

I was skeptical at first as well, all of the Test Drive games in recent memory were pretty horrible and not remotely realistic.

There is some minimalistic customization - three levels of upgrades for most cars, specialized upgrades (Saleen Mustangs, for example ) for others... But when you have the library of cars this game has (with more to come, ideally), you tend to overlook such things.

I've had more fun with this game than any other driving game I've ever played with the possible exception of the original Need for Speed (just because it was my first).

This game snuck up and surprised me. I hadn't heard anything about it. I haven't bought it yet, but it looks cool.

I saw a video posted where someone was driving around in a MKV VW R32. Is that vehicle in the game?

Also, how many different view are there? I don't want to always be "driving" the car from behind it.

Yep, it is one of the cheaper cars in the game.

There are five different views - three outside from various angles, one down the hood, and of course dashboard/cockpit, which is the only one I use. The interiors are very well done.

I drive with the interior view... With my 30" WS, it feels like I am there... In fact, in my opinion the ONLY way to play this game is as if you were sitting in the car yourself, the ONLY way to play!

Just bought the game and it's pretty fun so far. One question though, how do you find the car dealers in the GPS map? The map only shows mission icons. So far I only encounter a Ford and an Audi dealers through driving around.

when you go to the map there are four tabs you can view(they can be seen at the top left) there's one for challenges, key locations(houses, stores, paintshops, performance shops etc), players and bookmarks. (least this is from the x-box version) check it out.

I noticed this too, and it's really annoying.
