Why is that ironic?

Hate crimes are born of prejudice.

Terrorism is born of politics.

I don't agree. Compare and constrast the IRA vs. the UK and ISIS against basically the world: The IRA had a pretty explicit political objective. ISIS does not. Nor did al-Qaeda. Frankly I think both groups get called terrorists for lack of a better term, as think we agree insofar as I define terrorism to be using violent means against civilians to achieve a political objective.

Yes, like the guy who shot up the Congressional Republicans and that other guy who assasinated police in Dallas and that other guy who drove his car into a group of counter protestors.

Yep. Different reactions to the same hateful rhetoric. It's also perfectly obvious that right wingers have a greater tendency to act out.

Trump wouldn't called the IRA terrorists. A little too white for his taste.
