i've foudn out that petty dealers-common ford, chevy, mazda, jeep, HYUNDAI, etc only want your business THAT DAY. Honda and Toyota have been the only dealers interested in making a deal a few weeks down.

ps if you want to save a few couple hundred or thousand on buying a new car pm me.

That's what you get for trying to buy a POS Hyundai

Hyundai makes great cars and they're Korean, not some cheap Japanese import crap.

Like Honda and Toyota?

Yea you hear about them breaking down all the time and workers constantly looking down at Koreans because they're jealous we're taking away Japan's market in automobiles, cell phones and televisions/monitors (Samsung).

What pisses me off is that people often mistake inferior Honda products with Hyundai products simply because they sound and look similar to each other. Remember it's HYOON-DIE not HON-DAH.

Hmmm, before I bought my Accent I was at the dealership like twice a week for two weeks and they didn't once try to close on me.

I've been to a hyundai dealership... named Scott's Hyundai in El Monte, CA. They are a really small dealership, but they were pretty awesome since the guy I talked to, the manager, was pretty low pressure. I test drove the top of the line V6 Sonata with all the trimmings and I have to say that it is definitely a good feature/price ratio. The car was VERY roomy and all the lil things they put inside the interior were pretty badass. Of course, I wasn't really looking to buy at all. I had already bought an RSX-S from the local Acura dealership in May, but if I were to look for a new car for my family... if I had a family of course, I would choose the Sonata. But I promised myself that I would buy a more luxurious car next time since I'll be driving the cars for the long run, so might as well have something good to begin with.

Overall, dealerships are very YMMV. I still think Hyundai is a POS company, but the Sonata has gotten me to think twice about labeling them a crap company. If they keep things up, and with them wanting to offer a luxury type of vehicle to the mass market, I would not be surprised if I considered a Hyundai car as a future vehicle.

My worst experience at a Hyundai dealer was getting to drive the cars. Barf!

Instead of asking him for a price, you should give him a price. Tell him what you're willing to pay, and if he says no, leave.

That has to be the most misguided and backward statement that I have ever heard.

i can. i tried to go in to make a deal. get an otd price and such. told them i was seriously interested in buying.

plus, who pays sticker?

Nobody is going to make a deal with someone who isn't going to buy. When you have your money together, go back.

Look at it this way... say they waste a couple hours dealing with you and make a deal. You can't accept it because you're not buying today!!!

LoL , our experience was the opposite .. we went to our local Hyundai dealer and no one would wait on us. We were not carrying ammo belts slung over our shoulders or anything, we were dressed professionally (both work in educational field) and we even climbed into a floor model Sonata (too small for us - we are both over 6'-2") and acted interested. Next time I will lay on the wimpy horn until SOMEONE addresses me as a customer.

You REEEEEALLY need to go down and drive a new Sonata! You will understand how and why Hyundai is positioned to put a serious dent in Toyota's sales in the next couple years.

They use Toyota as a role model and are doing a VERY good job at duplicating the processes!!

You might also want to go drive a new Tucson while you're at it. The 4-cylinder version is nothing to write home about, but when I hopped into the V-6 I must say I was WAY impressed.

(And I'm a devout Toyota lover so the above took me about 3 months of soul searching to admit!)

Model years 2000 and earlier, I agree,...........Hyundai = so-so
Model years 2001-2005.......................Hyundai = pretty damn good cars
Model years 2006 and up...................Hyundai = Look out Toyota, we're onto you!

BTW, go check out a 2006 Toyota Corolla and take special note on the Fit & Finish of the vehicle. Then after you've made several notes about exterior and interior seams being WAY off on the Corolla.............go do the same over at a Hyundai dealership at either an '06 Accent or '06 Kia Rio.....(Hyundai owns Kia)...............your Toyota pride will take a punch to the gut, I promise!!!!

Having so many bad experiences hints me to something else.

Do you look like you are going to be wasting their time?

Still negotiating 3 weeks in advance is impossible. I wouldn't do it with a customer. If prices or deals change I could be stuck with someone claiming I made a *promise* to sell.

I may be able to say we can shave a bit off sticker perhaps, or if it's a hot car that it's at $200-500 over sticker.

However to sit down with someone and negotiate would be wasteful 3 weeks down the line, as for one no one I know would look 3 weeks for a new car, and it would take me away from helping someone ready to buy.
