As a 49ers fan who put up with his antics for 8 years, it comes as no surprise that Owens is unhappy and causing the Eagles organization no end of grief. Owens is all about one thing: Owens.

He just killed any chance of playing for the Eagles. He was on Pardon The Interruption today and completely badmouthed the team, the coaches, and the other players. He's gone, and he's not going to get the money he wants, or the money he would have gotten in Philly, from any other team. He basically killed his own career over the past few months.

Sleepmachine, really? Even if he had no desire to be there? I think the problems he would cause with team chemistry would overshadow his talent on the field. The niners saw that the last year he was there, constantly dogging Garcia in the media.

If he wanted to come back to teh bay he would be much better off in oakland. Porter, moss, and owens woulde be absolutely devastating and the raiders would seem somewhat more permiisve of owens antics.

To be honest....If I was the owner..I'd screw TO over so bad he wouldn't know what hit him. It'd sit his ass on the bench for the rest of his contract. I'd make him blow up and miss team meetings....then he'd be fined and you could save money. I'd waste his talent away.

It would be nice to do that but then the public would turn on the Eagles. Right now 99% of the public is siding with the Eagles b/c they are playing it tough but playing it by the book. If they start pulling "revenge" antics the public could turn. As the owner it would certainly be tempting though. Make him play through the entire 7 years...or sit for 7 years, it's your choice. Plus if he acts like he is now you can always go after him for "conduct detrimental to the team". for a couple million bucks back.

heh...that's true. and the reality of it is that TO has NO leverage here. The Eagles have the rights to him for 7 years at the current contract rate.

I realize it's a business, and players want market value. But it's retarded that he plays one year and then does this. He's not thinking big picture. Honestly, If he put up 2 more good years...I see no reason why he couldn't reneg his contract. A lot of good players do it, but only after they've produced a few years.

And it's not like he's getting paid under minimum wage....his kids can eat. It's to the point of just being an egotistical selfish jerk. He thinks he has them by the balls. I just hope an owner, just once, stands up to their players and makes a statement. It's a CONTRACT. Honor it.

He should have signed a 1 yr deal if he thinks he's all that.

All in all, he's a talent in the NFL. I'd like to see him just shut up and play. Will that happen? Probably not. But it'd be nice for him to act like a man and do his job. I don't have to like him, but I don't mind watching him play if he keeps his mouth close
