Actually, they were treated REALLY poorly, and thier property was destroyed. They deserve compensation for thier destroyed property, and I think that giving them an interview on TV is perfectly fair.

The Miami hospital where they were to have interned has canceled their internships.

And they may deserve compensation for missed work, too.

Reckless and foolish behavior..what they said was ment to be over heard and reacted to..now they can enjoy the stigma they invited upon them selves. I suspect they haven't seen the beginning of their foolishness.

 

I saw them on CNN last night. Nice guys. They had a good point. Everyone assumed they said that stuff even if they were joking, no one assumed they didn't say it at all.

Another thing they said was the women heard them talking some Arabic. Funny thing is only one of the speaks Arabic.

Officials have long since backed down on EVERYTHING they originally reported they did. That means no joking, no pranks, no toll booth running, no license plate switching, etc.

They were released, with no charges whatsoever.

That should tell you something.

Hmmmm....

Well I am not sure what to think about this.

On one hand, there are hords of Muslims in the US who go about thier everyday business without being the subject of a terror hunt.
So, this makes me suspect that these guys perhaps DID make a joke in response to being stared/gawked at or whatever. If so, idiot mistake but almost understandable.

On the other hand these guys seem credible enough to me and I see no reason not to believe thier version of the events.
I was also quite impressed by the immediate and adamant "Absolutely not" when asked if they were going to sue.
IMHO, your 'average' American wouldn't have been so quick to dismiss that chance for a little cash.

They also said they completely understood the hospitals decision about thier internships.

All in all they seem to be disarmingly reasonable people. Which, in itself, sounds warning bells to me. I don't trust people.
