I don't plan on purchasing but this is a major screw up.

Apparently the retail version has an error embedded that won't allow anyone to install the game. They recalled the game, so don't buy it at shelf. The digital version seems to be okay though.

ouch.... fail!

Simple question: How can such a mistake make it into a final product?

My guess is skynet hacked into the studio puters and planted the bug due to the bad portrayal of machines and skynet in the game;)

I give it a 70% chance it has to do with whatever DRM they tacked onto it last minute (this is a wild guess).

From the article, it was an error on the replication facility.

Someone's going to lose his job over this.

this is exactly what skynet wants. The plan is working. This is how the skynet virus will spread, just like T3... makes perfect sense ;)

Chronicles of Riddick EBB is the exception that proves the rule.

Seems like it's been happening semi-frequently lately...

- The issues with the various Fallout 3 DLCs on the different platforms
- The Gears of War "expiration date"

A few people thought Batman for the NES was a good game. I thought it sucked balls, but apparently I'm alone on this.

ET for the Atari 2600

The campaign supposedly lasts no longer than four hours or so. To be honest I was interested by it, but the more I read about it from players (and not from "professional" reviewers) and the less I am tempted. I think I will still buy it (since I just love the Terminator franchise and I still play older Terminator games from time to time, even on my SNES), but I will most certainly wait for a price reduction.

Yeah, I'll give you Riddick (though I've never played it )

Max Payne was a game before a movie though :p

And you saw how bad the movie was?

It usually works both ways.

Seems there was a defect during the replication of the PC version of Terminator Salvation as it says here.

Well, in any event, it should keep piracy figures down ;)

I love how most developers release unfinished games these days. It's sad when you can play nearly any game for an hour and point out plenty of bugs, areas needing improvement, features that would make the game drastically better, etc etc. It's clear that most developers either don't give a shit or are completely clueless. Often these improvements are simple things that wouldnt take more than an hour of programming to fix. There are exceptions (Blizzard) but unfinished and unpolished games are definitely the rule these days.

Part of that might be because it's so easy for the devs to automatically push out patches and game updates these days via Steam, GFWL, UbiSoft's updater, etc. Might lead to some complacency on their part, as far as ensuring that everything works correctly the first time around.

Very, very true for a game I completed recently - Velvet Assassin. So many things were missing that would have made this game a great stealth game like Splinter Cell or Thief.

And many others, but most of the good movie-based games I know are from the 16-Bit era.
