Terminator Genisys

I saw it. It was really hard to accept Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor. She just doesn't fit the look. But she did alright, better than I expected, but her acting needs serious work.

I happened to snag tickets for $3.25, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. If you're bored and have nothing to do it's worth a matinee showing.

6/10

Only $44M so far in America... but about double that foreign. Current gross on Box Office Mojo is about $130M. It'll do fine, mainly due to the foreign market -- Arnold and explosions are still very bankable internationally.

it's not a Terminator movie if Jim Cameron isn't involved

It was "Cameron Approved," not like that really means anything to be honest:

“I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance,” said the Avatar director. “The new film, which I think of as the third film [in the series], you see [Arnold Schwarzenegger] take the character even further.

“I had no idea what to expect sitting down, I had no involvement in making this film,” added Cameron. “If you like the Terminator films, you’re gonna love this movie.”

The director, who previously dismissed 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and 2009’s Terminator Salvation as unworthy of the name, said he had been won over by the new film’s key plot twist,

James Cameron says Terminator: Genisys is 'official' third film in saga.

Her face is very round for some reason. She's relatively fit but her face just retains a little too much.

I liked the movie, but I'm a sucker for Terminator.
I will say that it never felt like they were in any actual danger since John would get punched by Arnold and then we'd cut away. 30 seconds later of Kyle and Sarah running, Arnold would show up without John trailing them.

So it got, until now, almost double what it cost to produce and they call it "underperforming"? Or are they completely ignoring the rest of the world for some reason?

The studio/producer apparently gets to keep a larger portion of domestic earnings compared to international.

And these days, you're not a blockbuster unless you earn north of $500 M with a significant portion made in the domestic market.

I saw it last week, was a fan way back since the very first one came out years ago and I do not think this one is worthy in the same company as T1 and T2.

Too many this and that (time jump here and there and way over there).

Look like there could be a sequel from the scene after the credit.

And in other news, it sounds like another Alien movie is in the works. And this is actually old news, but news to me.

Blaumkamps concept art and ideas sound cool for it, but I really am not a big fan of his movies..so I will reserve judgement even though I am very interested in it.

I just saw it and it wasn't bad but then I'm biased. This is my sort of scifi/action movie. The attempted explanations were pretty convoluted and I had a little trouble trying to keep them straight, but then with this sort of movie, it's not like I really make that much of an effort. The chase scenes were pretty good but it seemed like they took over most of the movie. I liked that they introduced a new type of terminator but it was too much like the T1000 which I've never really been a fan of. Although I don't know where else they would have gone with the concept so I'll give them points for at least trying.

I don't think the franchise is dead but they're going to have to bump it to the next level if they ever decide to put out another one. They're going to have to introduce aliens, some new scientific phenomenon, or something. There's only so much you can do at this point and keep it canonical.

BTW, for the whole movie I was thinking, this chica (SC) looks really familiar but I couldn't place her. Then I checked IMDB . . . . double d'oh.

They need to make a movie that flips the scripts. The humans make a time machine and send someone back in time to destroy skynet before it was ever created. And a robot follows him though the machine before it is destroyed. His mission is to protect skynet, when it was young.
