i know i was just addressing the "without the initial attack on Sarah Connor then Skynet would never have existed" part. Remember in T3 the T-101 kept saying judgment day is inevitable and we find out skynet is a computer virus? All I'm saying is that Skynet is inevitable due to technological advancement and the inevitable invention of artificial intelligence. I think the Terminator writers are implying that no matter what AI will turn against humans.

Skynet is AI. In an effort to stop a nasty computer virus, the USAF allows the Skynet system to attempt to eradicate the virus from the network. This allows Skynet to spread to all systems on the network...like a virus.

John Connor: Skynet IS the virus!

One such virus had infected their defense computers, crippling them all. Under pressure, the Air Force attempted to use Skynet to remove the virus, not realizing that Skynet was the virus. Skynet was initially thought to be capable of being shut down if only someone could reach its system core, but ultimately it was discovered that it was nothing more than software that ran by spreading throughout the world's computer networks and had no central point from which it could be disabled (meaning one would have to destroy all computers in the world to destroy Skynet).

I just watched most of the first Terminator, and they explain that the terminator was killing more than one Sarah Connor because most records were destroyed in the war, so all they knew was her name and that she lived in LA - therefore they wouldn't know anything about her lineage.

Except Skynet was the virus. It had become self-aware and shut down the army's control, but it couldn't take control (we don't know why) without the command from the general. Once it was given access, it "eliminated" the virus and took over all systems.

Man, terminator and batman. Next action superstar. Imagine if he was superman and spiderman as well. Maybe a sprinkle of rambo and predator in there.

IIRC
Sky Net wasn't the virus, SkyNet created the virus in order to get the humans to give it the access it needed to take over.

Looks way to techy. The charm of T2 was that it took place in present day and how Terminators fought in the middle of everyday city - interacting with surprised pedestrians, our own SWAT, our world, etc.

This takes place in outright future or whatever. Even if it's good, it'll never be as widely appealing as the amazing T2.

With 3 movies and a TV show dedicated to that scenario, a fourth movie based on it would be kind of stale imho. How many times are they gonna time travel back? Besides, the 3rd movie already ended with the beginning of the holocaust, so a sequel to that point makes sense.

I don't think they will have the ability to time travel in this film since it was set before skynet had the ability to send the 1st terminator after Sarah Connor.

No, its technically set after as it takes place in the future whereas the first terminators were supposed to be set in the present.

What he was referring to was that the terminators are going to predate those (be less advanced than) that were sent back in time in the first 3 movies.

This movie will probably be the one that tells us more about John's father and why he was chosen to be sent back etc...so if we look at a the time line as a circle, it takes place both after and before the first three movies.

Dangit you found the one and only plot hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god. Ya, and then we could totally just not have Terminators 1,2,3 because they never happened. SPOOKYYYY

It's called a plot device! It's a movie about time travel. Quit being overly scientific.

"Come with me if you want to live"

I had enough of these damned homages from the new TV show. THEY SUCK! STOP IT!

WHat's next? "I need your clothes, your boot and your motorcycle"
They'll work that in there somehow.

BE CREATIVE HOLLYWOOD. Don't force homages into Fing movies when the character should be running.

The new terminators do look awesome. I always wanted to see more of the terminators - T3 showed us the T-1s and the flying things, which were pretty cool.

That is easily the best line ever.

No, T4 is going to ruin it. Did you watch the video and the circumstance with which it was said? Why not just have some man on man kissing while a T-600 is trying to kill us. Ya, I ned to be told to run?

THe harvester is fine. THe motorcycle thing though. It is going to be laughable. A 4 wheeled vehicle of some sort, fine but not a 2 wheeled thing that will defy physics in film. Why not just make a lightweight Termintor that can run fast? Something like a cougar. 40 mph speed but all terrain. It's obvious to me? Why is a motorcycle obvious? If one chased me, I'd just head for the hills. Maybe it "transforms".

What does he mean it happens before the first, second, and third? I'm sure he meant the machinery, not timeline.

Read the other posts, they talk about it.

I think it is meant that T4 will occur prior to Skynet sending the Terminator back in time to kill Sarah Connor in T1.

My assumption is Judgment day just recently happened and motorcycle's were around and the machines simply used their design and built off it since everything else they have is like that and it's small enough to carry around versus a 4 wheeled SUV, not to mention how expensive gas is then.
