tents: 3 choices

I got $50 GC at Cabelas.

I am leaning toward the cheap which got a decent review from consumer reports. the others look good. any thoughts?

I don't camp alot which makes me go for the cheap one plus i never go in snow. going to wisconsin on a camping trip soon.

when buying stuff for hiking or just general outdoorsy stuff, never ever ever go with the cheapest stuff

I dare you to buy the cheap one and stay in it for more than one night.

It looks like a piece of crap that punctures easily.... but then again, it's only a pic on the net.

Always keep in mind that when it says a 4 person tent... you'll be lucky to be comfortable with 3. You gotta have somewhere to put your stuff, and the third one looks like the only one that compensates for that and provides room under the rainfly for gear.

If you buy the cheap one, you better buy another cheap-ass KMart tent to store your stuff in, other wise rain and dew will tear it apart.

Nylon tents get very stuffy inside, the cheap one only has that vent at the top whereas the middle one has bigger side vents.

Are you going to want put that fly on everytime it rains with the cheap one?

because of morning dew, the fly will be on at night.

Our tent and ground cloth. Got 'em much cheaper, of course. Never had a problem and it's been used on lots of different terrain, in pouring and in steady rain. :thumbsup:

depends if its "camping" where your car is like 10 feet away... or hardcore camping where its miles away. expensive = light mostly. for caarrying u know... that or ability to withstand extreme wind. both which seem doubtful since u seem n00b

otherwise shelter is pretty decent these days even from cheap tents. get a tarp to put under it. if its cold...expensive sleeping bag is more important.
