I know longshoremen who work 3 hours a day then go home and get paid for 8 hours. Yearly salary = $125 000. They get triple time for O/T.

East coasters do the same job but for much less.

I am talking about the guys that go out for a month and harvest Alaska Snow crabs

I read that article, those guys aren't dock workers they are boat hands. They only work for a couple days because that's all that the crabbing season lasts.

Pilots...yeah alright. Automation doesnt do sh!t when things break. The airplane still doesnt fly itself. Up to 500 lives, your own, the $150mil airplane, and god knows what on the ground is in your hands. 20 years and $100,000 in training (from your own pocket). $25,000/yr initial salaries. Your whole career can end any number of times yearly during checks and physicals. Recurrent training a few times yearly.

Their pay is fine. I don't think you want a $15/hr peon flying your ass around.

I actually work at a fishery on the west coast. I'm not sure if this is exactly the same thing, but I pretty much sit at a computer and input the log book sheets from ports into databases....and i'm not even close to make 136K.

How can a flight school degree be much much more expensive than an engineering degree? Medical degree?
