Ten Commandments and Bill O'Reilly

A Debate last night on the O'Reilly factor over the Ten Commandments and their place in governement buildings turned into an ownage fest.

That guy from UCLA just cleaned Bill's Clock last night in the debate about the Ten Commandements.

Anyone else see it?

Nothing amazing here, O'Reilly has never been known as a wealth of religious info.

Now Alan Keyes on the otherhand, i'd like to see that UCLA guy debate him.

Why don't you have a transcript? You had one for the Billy Baldwin debate:Q

Well I didn't want to have to spoonfeed such an "ace reporter" as yourself NFS4 but if you insist, I can provide the link for Bill's point of view. When the transcript is available I'll grab that too.

Well, I found that by going through the link in you other thread. I want to see the transcript where he got "owned."

Interesting stuff. Thanks for the link, Texmaster.

Although I'm inclined to disagree with O'Reilly on this, I'm not completely against him. I think his argument has some merit.

However, even if he views the Ten Commandments as a "historical document" and not as a religion-based document, it's still true that the Ten Commandments are in the Bible, and therefore someone could construe their posting in a government building as the government's favoring Christianity and Judaism over another religion. HIS viewpoint is that it's only a historical document. That's fine. My viewpoint does not agree with his.

Tune into the O'Reilly factor next time to find out 😉

Agreed.

I liked what he said about the fact that the Ten Commandments support multiple religions but he lost me when he tried to include Buddists and other non Deity based faiths.

And I agree with you. The Ten Commandments is far from being a historical document.

Yep, O'Reilly is WAY off base here. The Ten Cs ARE a religious document establishing one religion over another (It doesn't matter that two spin off religions claim them as well). There is no way around this.

i wanted to post this on the other thread but then it is the same. O Rielly got creamed by Baldwin that day. You should have seen the look on O'Rielly's face. His face became small and looked like BS becos he was on the receiving end.

I liked the show and i liked his hard hitting style initially, later i came to realize that he is a big arrogant moron with an inflated ego. most of all he is a shameless liar. he lies thru his damn teeth. he says one thing on todays show and then refuses to accept that he said the same earlier. and finally the thing that pisses me off the most is the BS he gives abt him being for the blue collar americans because he is one of em. what bull and cock is that.....

and for the guy who says the score is 768-1, i pity you..there are a zillion people out there who can come and rip him into a billion peices...but the TRUE COWARD that he is , he never brings people on the show who are against his idealogy or who are not on equal ground with him.He never invites someone of similiar stature too cos he knows his BS will not be tolerated. Bill Maher took case of O'Rielly easily...there are many others who can.

P.S: Thanks for the news🙂

This is kind of off-subject, but I think is interesting....

O'Reilly does a great job of minimizing the opposition's key points and interrupting when an excellent point is being made. His tactics are overpowering, and create an illusion that he has a stronghold on any argument (or is the winner). Usually, the only people that can hang with O'Reilly are lawyers. Sure, he has "won" many arguments against lawyers, but I have noticed that he can't strong-arm lawyers with his tactics like he can people who are not professional debaters.....Let's face it, if you can't debate at a high level, you are prey to O'Reilly. I can't stand to watch his show anymore, but I used to be an avid follower....

how was this thing being displayed? i mean, if it was like above the judge or something, i can see how that would be a problem, but if it was just in some guy's little cubicle, i think it doesn't really matter.

It was a huge monument on the statehouse grounds.

okay, yea that's screwed up.

o'reilly sounds like tom leykis... they're not necessarily right, but to the common idiot, they often sound like it because of the tactics they use. of course, i agree with leykis more, but it's still plain to see what they're doing.

badluck what you say is very true. he shamelessly without any sense of etiquette or manners interrupts the others blunty when a good argument is being put up. The way he interrupts too is annoying, in the most primitive way like " i dont believe that" or " i refuse to believe that" instead of giving a valid counter argument. But when he gets to speak, the BS that comes out from his sewer of a mouth has to be finished without interruptions becos it is his show. he shamlessly strong arms people.

one guy who consistently keeps O'Rielly under check is a Dem senator frm boston or new york..guy has an italian name.he uses the same tactics which bill uses.

Damn we need to get rid of those 10 commandment things. Next thing you know someone is going to get the crazy idea that maybe law should be based on some of them. 😛😛😛

I disagree with most of what he said in that clip. He is basically saying that morality cannot exist without religion. That is a bunch of BS. He is using the exclusion of religion in public places as a scapegoat for the problems in the United States.

I have an idea of what is right and wrong. I do not need a book or a list to tell me.

amen, although to be honest, if it weren't for the bible, i'd be coveting my neighbor's wife.

Me too! (But unfortunately for you my right and wrong is opposite of yours is. That's OK as there is no right or wrong, really)--- So where did ya park your car??? 😉🙂😛

IMHO you have an idea of what's right and what's wrong because you're a part of western culture, which indoctrinates you with morality.

In individual circumstances, there have been any number of divergent moralities that condone cannibalism, and in some cases expect murder as a right of passage into manhood. The only exception is killing of people within your own society regularly, but this makes sense--any society to condone or support such an idea would wipe itself out pretty quickly 🙂

But I agree; to say that people who aren't religious can't have morality (which I take to be O'Reilly's implication) is a bunch of bunk.

Religious icons of any kind have no place in a US Government building. I'm not talking about in someone's cubicle. I mean like in this case; big-ass monument in the middle of the place....no good at all.
