it's all hype and advertisements. i dont see whats so special about it, i dont like it one bit, it's way tooooo soft for my likings. when u sit on it, it when almost completely flat, and worst of all, when u sleep on it, it sucks ur rare down.

i dont know what u call those soft like material that made the bed, but i've seem it being used on on shipping boxes to protect the item from damage, yea, something close to that material i describe.

tempur pedic = overrated. what a scam.

I was in a hotel recently that had tempur pedic mattresses ... not a knockoff, there was all kinds of sales brochures in the room.

Anyways ... it was nice ... I prefer firm mattresses, but it felt like the sink-in was minimal, and that it had good support.

I would really like to try a sleep number out ...

Oh, and as I type this ... coincidentally I'm sitting in another hotel room and I can feel the cheap-o bed's springs on my ass.

I agree that tempu-pedic is not all it is hyped up to be. My wife and I spent a good while picking out a new bed this past winter, and we couldn;t stand the tempur for the same reasons you mentioned. It was too soft for either of us, and once you sink in to it, you can't move!

We decided on mattress that had an 8" latex foam topper. It had all the benefits of the tempur (uniform distribution of support, low motion transfer etc.), but was not overly soft. We spent a small fortune on it, but it is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

To their credit, they took the material and did a lot of research to find the best foam weight to make a bed. I'm also a firm believer in my Serta and wouldn't buy a tempurpedic.

My favorite thus far is a super firm mattress with a 2 inch memory foam topper (the kind you can buy at Sears for about $100) ... feels uber comfortable, and don't excessively sink in to the mattress.

the cheapest tempur is also the softest. if you get one of the higher models, they'll be much firmer and you dont sink as much. also, the mattress will be much firmer when you get it than it is in the store because you dont have people constantly jumping on it all day. my gf has had hers for about 4 months and although it did soften up a bit, its still firmer than the store mattress.

I thought you could pick your firmness setting. That must be another mattress then.

I picked up the Costco version of it, but I wouldn't mind getting the real thing whenever I need a new one. I love them when my room is cold, they're rock hard and you kind of melt into the bed. They do come in firmness. I was close to getting the Bob-O-Pedic but went with the Costco (online one, not the one they have in store) one instead.

i own a latex mattress, i think latex is way better than the memory foam stuff. plus latex lasts longer.

wtf is a bob-o-pedic? Bob Barker has a new brand out?

Bob's Discount Furniture. They are alright, but you can really see where they cut costs sometimes. They have these leather couches they usually sell that are $899 for a whole set. You think, wow, good deal. You get in the store and you realize why it's $899 for the whole set. It's CHEAPPPPP. It actually feels worse than IKEA's leather stuff.
