Temps with 2500+/slk900a/panaflo92mm 48cfm

Ok, temps start off at around 30c or less just cuz my room is cold, then it quickly heats to 40+ and slowly to 50 or a little higher. After overclocking to 2200mhz (2.8vdimm, 1.75 vcore, 200x11), temps go to about 55 max. When using prime95 (which i haven't had time to run for 24 hours yet), temps hit 59 max (so far). This seems pretty high for my setup. In another thread in the general hardware forum, someone has a slk800a with an 80mm fan and keeps temps around 38 on full load and overclocked the same. Seems odd to me. I'm recording temps using a hardcano (little wire goes and attaches on bottom side of cpu) that came with my xaserIII case (with 7 fans running full speed...still is soooooo quiet though). I used the thermal paste that came with the heatsink. Maybe I didn't put enough paste on? If that's the issue, how do i separate the cpu/heatsink, remove the existing paste and put more on?

it depends from mobo to mobo but i would expect high 30s low 40's idle and mid 40's load

Too many factors or reasons why your temps maybe higher than someone elses. Maybe their ambient temp is alot lower, or they might have wrong readings. In any case, your temps are still within a reasonable operating range. As for your question about thermal paste, you don't need a ton of thermal paste to see results. A thin even layer will suffice.

cpu voltage? makes a big difference in temps. I have the same case and I also use mobo monitor and the temps are the same on both. You might try installing it just to double check. I have an XP2100 o'c to xp 2600 at 1.80 volts and with my sk900 and a similiar fan my temps are at 47 and pretty much stay there. The intakes on the front of this case aren't the best. 2 fans but the intake air gets sucked in from the bottom and if you have a carpet the intake is probably plugged. If that's the case, put something under the front of the case to raise it and clear the airflow.

upping voltage/overclocking can dramatically increase heatoutput. read the link.
