TEMPS just keep getting HIGHER! while IDLE!

i just put in a XP2100 302, O/ced it to 2600+ speeds. voltage is only at 1.65. I have a vantec CCK-6040, the fan spins at about 6054 RPM, the thermal compound is ASIII and it seems that my idle temp keeps going up.... now its at 56.5 celcius! i have an aluminum shim....Somebody, HELP ME! what should i do?
 
Did you perhaps apply too much thermal compound? If you applied too much, it can seep over the side of the chip and, instead of conducting heat to the heatsink, it may retain heat near the core.
 
ok... i will try..... i dont think used too much Compoound. at first i though it was too little, so i addded some.... will try to reapply....Thanks...any other ideas?
 
Be aware that ABit nForce and nForce2 boards typically give higher-than-average estimations of the CPU temperature. The previous-generation ones typically gave readings of around 70C. That doesn't mean the CPU was actually any hotter than if it were in some other board... just a calibration difference.
 
Those temps seem accurate since you're OC'g to that degree with that particular cooler(hint).
The vantec CCK-6040 was never a record breaker in the cooling dept.
Find yourself a better cooler...just my $.02.
